not much of a long fade, but fortune telling fish -> you are sleeping is ballistic! I just can't listen to you are sleeping without that intro. its an official rule me and friend developed. anytime we wanna skip to you are sleeping, fortune telling fish MUST come first.

Yes, there are a lot of good transitions on the comp, but this is here between a break and a 4/4, and I love this kind of transition...;)

btw, Balance 005 is the best rated album on discogs: 139 votes, and 14 4/5...:eyes:

Holden's Essential Mix in 2001, trumps this CD for me, only just. That is when I learnt the true powers of key mixing, and what a planned mix cd could do.

James Holden - "Solstice" (Silver Planet)
Beethoven - "Sonata in C# Minor (Edit)" (White Label)
Massive Attack - "Three (Mad Professor Trinity Dub)" (Wild Bunch)
Telepopmusik - "Breathe" (Catalogue)

Those 4 tracks on screen seem impossible to mix, but let me tell you they are freaking beautiful together!

James is enlightened. It doesn't have anything to do with his Maths degree, he's just got "it".

His mix cd's are timeless. (I still enjoy Silver Planet, as well as of course 005, and I'm warming up to At the Controls).

His EM from 2001 (if you haven't heard it), has the most amazing track listing (below).

James Holden vs Ben Pound - "Kaern Turned" (Easyaccess)
Bjork - "All Is Full Of Love (Brancaccio and Aisher mix)" (White Label)
David Alvarado - "Blue (Smith and Selway mix)" (Strive)
Jean Phillipe Aviance - "Black On Black" (Player One)
Ashtrax - "Digital Reason (Ogenki Clinic Patamon mix)" (Deviant)
Coco Da Silva - "@night" (Kismet)
James Holden - "Solstice" (Silver Planet)
Beethoven - "Sonata in C# Minor (Edit)" (White Label)
Massive Attack - "Three (Mad Professor Trinity Dub)" (Wild Bunch)
Telepopmusik - "Breathe" (Catalogue)
030 - "Midnight in Europe" (MFS)
Avus - "Take My Hand" (White Label)
Boards of Canada - "In a Beautiful Place Out In The Country" (Warp)
Starecase - "Faith (Loafer Mix)" (Hope)
Yunus - "Red Pilot" (Silver Planet)
Private Taste - "First (Ashtrax Ambient Score)" (White Label)
Yunus - "Red Pilot" (Silver Planet)
James Holden - "I Have Put Out The Light (Edit)" (Silver Planet)
Armin - "Blue Fear" (Xtravaganza)
Cosmic Baby - "Space Track (Edit)" (MFS)
Perc - "Bourbonic" (Midset)
Plastikman - "Glob" (Novamute)
DJ Q - "We Are One (Edit)" (Filter)
House Of 909 - "The Blandford Superfly (DJ Q Mix)" (Alola)
James Holden - "One For You (Avus One Squelchapella)" (Silver Planet)
Slacker - "Looky Thing (Daisy)" (White Label)
Society London - "Spqr" (white label)
Fischerspooner - "Emerge" (International Deejay Gigolos)
The Mamas & The Papas - "California Dreaming" (Universal)

I've said this before but anyway:

Armin van Buuren - 004 Transparance

The transition between Way Out West - Mindcircus (DJ Dazzle's Royal Air Force Mix) ---> Busy Boys - Flow Emotion (Galea And Lush Mix).

totally love when he mixes forth and back between the vocals and still makes it flow so well.

hats off!
