Monitoring Headphones

I have been currently using my Technics RP-DJ1200 headphones for monitoring. How acurate would these be? Would i be better with a set of hd25's or what headphones would be good for monitoring?

Also i have been offered a really good deal on these: Tannoy Reveal 6d Almost new for 250GBP with warranty.

Worth it? How would these measure up, bearing in mind the price.

I tested many many headphones. The HD280PRO did it for me.

Word!! I've been using these Sennheiser headphones for a year now, they are very good, but careful, you will be losing audition with any headphones, that is why I'm trying to get monitors now.

Ive got them too, I like them.
Except my neck gets tired after a while (it's heavy) and it's too bass heavy.

mine are a lightweight (compared to my Sony MDR DJ headphones) and the frequency range is pretty linear :)

Be careful, it is very dangerous to monitor on headphones... you don't want to end up with tinnitus like me.

There's some kind of myth going around that headphones damage your hearing, it's just not true. Just keep the volume at a reasonable level and you won't harm your hearing. There's no need to blast headphones when monitoring, just keep the volume at a comfortable level. If headphones damage your hearing, there'd be a whole lot of DJs with hearing loss, and that's just not the case. Monitors can damage your hearing too if you crank them too loud. The speaker volumes at dance clubs is overkill a lot of the time, another threat to your hearing.

I have tinnitus too, but not from headphones, I believe I got it from playing guitar in Metal bands and going to concerts.

Back to the original post, I don't know a lot about Technics RP-DJ1200. Main thing is, you want an extremely wide frequency range. You want flat, uncolored sound reproduction. Get studio headphones, not audiophile ones.
