There are some fairly rare diseases that do not occur with circumcised individuals. Also, since there is no chance of smegma buildup, you also don't have to worry about things on that front. There are also several STDs (namely, HIV/AIDS) that are much less likely to be transmitted to an individual who has been circumcised.
Those are the "biggies." |

So basically it makes sense unless you're obsessed with a few nerve endings that probably don't make a whole lot of difference to being with (I read your other post regarding that in this thread too)? |

If you're asking my opinion, I honestly don't see the rationale behind not being circumcised. The only argument that I see being used against circumcision is that it somehow decreases your pleasure, which I've already talked about. The possible health benefits of circumcision outweigh the perceived loss of sensation, especially when the circumcision is performed on an infant.
I will have my sons (if I have any) circumcised. If someone asked my "medical opinion" I would also recommend circumcision. However, I'm not going to go around trying to persuade people into being circumcised or try to change policy in its favor.
Just like I don't think those against circumcision have any merit to do likewise. |

I have a circumcised penis, and it's not bad at all. Yes, I'd love to see what it would be like to be uncut, but I never will. No use crying over spilled milk anyways. But if I had a son, I would never get him circumcised. I believe that I do not own his body, and something like circumcision should be his choice alone.
That being said, if he ran into some complications from being uncut as a minor, then I would be OK with getting him circumcised.
Really, there's no need to just cut off your son's foreskin like that as a baby. You could get a much better circumcision when you're older than when you're a child. There have been cases where the boy was cut too deep (ouch).
I will admit that in some cases circumcision is necessary, but not in all. |

No, not really. I'm not so obsessed with sex and sexual pleasure to care that much about it in the first place since, from what I understand, it's not like I've lost much in the first place. I was just trying to weigh the pros against the cons so I asked Neo since he's a doctor. ;) |

Not really a doctor yet. Besides hes going to a crappy med school and he doesn't want to become a doctor of the penis. he is majoring in invasive radiology. He basically treats cancer patients-i think-and that doesn't mean he doesn't know about circumcision but i wouldn't trust his advice.
Take from the worlds population if circumcision had any benefits than the world's male populations would be circumzised. And since we are not than that means circumcision is bs. |

Ohio State is a crappy med school? Also, there's no "majoring" in med school. You specialize in areas your second two years, but everyone gets the same education. If you think what I have to say is crap, more power to you. Dictate your life and health by what the "worlds population" is doing, and I hope it makes you happy. |

I'm a Computer Science major. If someone asked me what OS distribution would be more suitable for their needs or the real benfits versus the percieved benefits of more RAM v.s a higher CPU clock rate, I don't need to specialize in software engineering or system design to answer their question.
Why are you getting so worked up? I asked him a simple question about the clinical/hygenic benefits of circumcision. |

What is working me up is that you are trying to refute what doctors in this country and around the world agree on. That circumcision is a bunch of bs.
Just admit it one more time for yourself to realise that circumcision is a bunch of bs. Just say that and you won't have your child butchered. Why do you want to butcher your childs penis for?
