Wow, when I put this mix on I had no idea these sounds were comign fromyou, i was like, huhh? church bells? my initial thought.... I think you could use a way more balanced 1st track.. its a bit repetitive imo, and then the girls voice? :-\ JUST my opinion.
Oh yeah, the quality of the mix, despite your sick ass mixer, is a bit shallow.. I think it has a lot to do with your sound card that you recorded on? Maybe it's just me... You can hate me today Rob, I'm in a superior critical mood today...
Track numero two, cut out the intro just 64 beats and have that synth leading into that voice right after track 1 is exiting, this way there's no stasis in the mix, but it fits good with track 1, for sure... I think it's that electroish sound that is a good follow up, but now that I think of it, maybe switch track 1 and 2 with each other and play around to see what kind of effect you get... hmmm then comes track 3... that voice is sick...lovin it! but i need it to play in track 2, so when the track 3beat kicks in, its in full force instead of waiting for it for a minute or so... you know what I mean?
haha, overall this mix reminds me of some crazy ass disco-electro-retro stuff like we're back in the 70's... real dope!
nice transition in trck 4...just the way I like it, bring the crowd insiiide =)
5, same thing! :) Its like you have to get into the zone in order to make perfect transitions... that is with any DJ i think... But the feel of your set stays the same, and it works well ;) 6, lala, we're playing at a lounge, with an electronic keyboard, haha, very creative there Rob...7 almost house, especially with them vocals..but we're still in a lounge :) and the shakers made it to the table! marvelous... Really liking the on-going style of the feel of the mix, yet it is moving... oh then we get sedna... powerful track... played it last night as well, haha! that reminds me, i randomly met djplumber? donno if you're familiar with him..haha, was kidn of hilarious imo... nice tracks after that... much better hearing to my ears than the first 3 tracks... the one after sedna is good for relieving the tension, yet building up... i almost want that track :) oh yes I hear layo and bushwacka! ah, their new remake... :) always good to hear..
Overall, very smooth after the first couple tracks... and then the last track, i feel is more of a climax track then when you put it at the end... just my opinion.... im curious, how much for that efx500 ?? can you put it to specific channels or only to the main output?
well let me know, i'm going to the studio to record myself... and I hope I didnt hurt your feelings rob...! cheers |

I already told you in pm what I think, but I should re-iterate that its a solid mix. Mixing wise you have alot on me, I still have a ways to go to be that tight. Theres alot of good tracks in there, but like I said some of them I'm abit "over", but they're still good tracks that I like.
To me I've started to feel (since I started DJing alot) that you can play stuff like this out when you have a good 2+ hours, but on a mix CD I think its essential to take people places they really havn't been before, because then the disc will have more longevity. I also think the ability to find lesser known tracks that have the same impact as the bigger ones more people are playing is really unique in DJing. Your net worth as a DJ really comes down to the variety of music you have, your music makes you, and then the way you put it together.
Alot of days I'll be mixing and I feel like I just dont have enough tracks, despite my 300+ beatport purchases since the beggining of this year. Guys like Danny Howells will pull these ing weird tracks out of nowhere that you've never heard of, and I really love that side of DJing, finding unknown stuff and exposing more people to it. The problem with that is finding the music...its ing hard, and it takes alot more work than actualy spinning it.
I think Rob Turner def has the skills, and the vision, you just need to get some new goodies in your record box :D And while I liked Clarity Through Fog (except that Electro Hairspray track lol) I thought your BBC mix and the one before it were just as good, and you dont even know how suprised me and bas (and I'm sure bobert) were at having you name that mix after us, makes me wanna spin tracks with you real bad :o :D |

Its like that Omid 16B quote

Rob seems stuck, and I know how it feels. |

| Predictable. Not original whatsoever. stop copying other DJs. Sorry, just MY opinion which i know you can't handle. I got 5 demos/mixes here from Detroit area DJs that blow this out the water! |

No, I can handle it. You just don't have anything better to do than talk about me across multiple internet forums because you think I disrespected one of you friends.
You and the rest of the "too cracked to deal with life" crew from Detroit are welcome to your own opinions, just don't be suprised if due to their complete lack of objectivity and tact that they fall on deaf ears. |
