hi guys,
i've recently dug out all my old stuff.
how amazing is the old jarre and vangelis stuff.
the analogue synthesizers sound really warm, fab on good headphones.
I'm in my mid-twenties so many of the younger peeps probably won't now this stuff.
anybody out there who likes this stuff too?
i went from jarre, vangelis, over chicane to trance
feel free to comment |

| ya I'm not too familiar with Jarre to be honest but Vangelis is a genius. Definitely a pioneer of synthesizer music, which after all is what makes up a large part of trance music, so he deserves a lot of respect I think. |

JEAN-Michel Jarre! not John  It's not like you have to translate his French name into English when written down here :p
I may be one of the younger people (20), but I definitely do know their music, own original copies of a few of their albums. I didn't grew up with it though, just discovered their music at some point.
It's a shame their glory years have long gone by though, the most recent JMJ tracks (on the Aero album thingy) are awful, pling plong, it's like the guy can't remember how to make music (actually I once read that he actually couldn't remember how he made his music at the time of Oxygene and Equinoxe). Vangelis does pretty nice soundtrack music these days (eg Alexander OST), but it's nothing like his older albums, imo. I love Vangelis' Antarctica, beautiful 'cold' music. |

Everytime I think of Vangelis, two things come to mind:
The series Cosmos.
Running in slow motion. |

love them both. pioneers of electronic music. some of my favourite tracks:
Vangelis - Reachels Song
Vangelis - Alpha
JMJ - Souvenir De Chine
JMJ - Oxygéne (Part 2) |

totally love both of them.
Both have done so many good tunes. Conquest of Paradise, Antarctica, Rachels Song, Pulstar, Blade Runner theme, To The Unknown man etc etc.
Vangelis soundtrack for Alexander is beautiful. Too bad the best track off the movie wasn't put on the OST CD (the one when Anthony Hopkins is talking in Alexandria). |

| I only know Vangelis from Oakeys Goa EM. The tracks are fantastic. Instead of the nonstop monotonous flow that trance is thesedays, that EM managed to be uplifting, dancable and relaxing at the same time. The Vangelis tracks broke it up perfectly. |

| Yeah both are amazing, pioneers in terms of Electronic music in general along with Kraftwerk and the like. I've always been amazed at how fresh and original their recordings sound, Vangellis in particular has some older works that stand up to mosr of electronic music being released today - they haven't aged at all. Jarre too. |

| I love Vangelis, my dad has most of his CDs and that's some of the stuff I grew up listening to. Can't really say much about JMJ, never liked his stuff very much. |

JMJ is a complete showman - his concerts are awsome - uses the surrounding buildings to project images on as his songs play - the guy put the L - in laser.
I think the best live show I have ever heard him perform was Live in houston - |
