On Friday I ventured down to System Sound Bar expecting just a normal System night. Went into the VIP room to hang with my friends that spin there ... next thing I realize .. they are spinning TRANCE !!! (Normally they spin funky house) "Tonight we are spinning all the OLD SCHOOL TRANCE athems B2B ... from 98 to 99 !!!" Holly F%CK !!! I ran and grabbed my girl and afew of the friends that were in the main room to party in the VIP ROOM. It was pure heaven ... ALL of the OLD SCHOOL tracks I use to listen to *day in and day out* when I first started the scene were blasting ALL NIGHT LONG !!! Even the tracks I knew that were never going to be played ever again were spun that night. Just to name afew ... from chesse to the uplifting !!! (it's been awhile .. so I can't remember the names)

Paul Oakenfold - Tranceport (40% of the CD was spun that night),Tiesto and Ferry Corsten - Gouryella (Breakbeat ver.:)),System F - Out of the Blue,Armin van Buuren - Communication,Push - Universal Nation,Cafe Del La Mars - 1998,Blank and Jones,BT,Paul van Dyk - Cream and DJ Sakin - Protect your Mind and many many more !!!

The VIBE was pure *just like the old days* and everyone in that room was smiling to the point where their cheecks were hurtin' !!! At the end, the final 2 tracks were Mauro Picotto's Lizard and Komodo and I had the honour to stop that set :)

Honestly, you can make fun of me, you can flame me all you want ... I don't give F**K !!! These are the tracks I loved back in days and have sentimental values. Alot of memories flashing back in my head that night. Very Specail thanks to my firends behind the turntables that provided me with free drinks,G LISt *all this time" and that old school set. Thank You DeepGroove !!!

DeepGroove have promised me ... once a month they will spin a set like this. To all the TA Headz intrested ... I'm offering you guys UNLIMITED GLIST for this !!! I'll confirm 1 week ahead. Just E.Mail me [email protected]

Not only do I miss them...but I missed them...and when I look at what was played back in those days...I get angry, cause I wasn't into trance till pretty much a year ago today :(

Yes, it was a very good year....
But I wish someone up here would throw a decent old school party- for the old timer like me. I'd love to hit a party hearing the tracks from '92-on.

I'm guessing you missed the Phryl party that was thrown on the weekend of iDance. :(

Thats too bad, its was a fouking stellar party, they even got some people such as Alx of London to come out of retirement, bring out their old stuff and toss it down propah. I heard so many songs that night that I had even forgotten about, it was fantastic hearing beautiful acid house, true old skool hardcore, and techno that melted minds back then.

As if the music wasn't enough how about seeing people that you never would have thought you would ever see again!!! People that I had met at Exodus, Nitrous, and Better Days parties long ago were actually out and having a great time!!!

Still makes me smile when I think of it. :)

Oh yeah- I remember seeing that flyer. I went to NY that weekend. Thought about staying behind for that party, but NYC won.
I made the mistake of going to an 'old school' party thrown by Liquid Adrenalin (I think) in Aug or Oct 2000 at a club around Dufferin and Finch. They had all the presale ticket holders in line with the non-ticket holders, & the line was astronomical!!! The sound sucked, and hardly any old school was played, that I heard. Many other problems with it too, but I won't waste the time. I'm just itching for an old school party......!

Ya, i do miss the old tunes alot, but, i can listen to them whenever i want, i either have them on CD or on my Hard Drive :).. I think that would be real fun, once a month break out some of the older tunes and play an " old skool " set.. :)..
milanster
ohh man thats exactly what i was thinkin of 2 days ago..
trance was totally diff...1999 was truly the year of trance!!
awesome music..

yeah i can still listen to old trance from time to time...but back in 99, listenin to a new trance tune felt very different!

i loved T.N 1, dave pearce's first CDs and all the other tunes! :(

This is the best idea I've heard since I joined this Board...

SOS Galvatron, having a monthly bash where they play real TRANCE would be like a dream!

Preferably on Friday's, cuz I work every Saturday Night.

SOS2 Galvatron
TranceNerd ... they only spin on Fridays !!!! Your so lucky dude.

It's cool to hear it on mp3 and CD but when it's blasted LIVE with ppl who were there to hear an old school set .... DAMN I can't even explain it. "HANDS IN THE AIR .... TEARS IN THE EYES !!! (I honestly didn't even know they were going spins a 98 - 99 Trance set until I got there. All I heard from him while I was on the phone ... "it's going to be a specail night for me") The VIP room that night was beyond louder then the main room !!!
TranceNerd
That's cool.

If this actually becomes a regular event, and brings in enough of a crowd (as I'm sure it will), then maybe people will start to recognize, and start spinning more trance everywhere else too.

I haven't bothered going clubbing much in about a year, cuz House Musik just gets too boring for me, nothing to dance too but the beat.. (I'm not dissin' house, I just don't like it.)

So SOS2 Galvatron, lemme know if this is gonna be a sure thing, and I'll be there as often as I can.
