All this about Guverment isnt going to get any of us anywhere. I think emailing would be the best solution. If they got a couple hundred emails from (not pissed off) but dissapointed or concerned people about the crowd control (and yes that means 40 year old wacked out asians twirling around in circles, molesting our ladies) it would probably get us farther than bitching to each other.

My view anyways......if anyone does get around to getting the email address of the individuial who would address the situation....post it and we'll get all the Guverment patrions to write a small email. Im sure something will come of it.
Peace:cool:

Personally, I think they'll do nothing. They clearly are strictly about the dollars. The more peeps in there more money they make. If they do change anything, it'll just become more elitist, waits will be even longer and you'll have dumb ass bouncers who are already way to cocky acting like toughguys to the dudes who has a face they don't like and the slutty girls will make their way to the fronts without waiting. Fahk that, it ain't equitable and does not improve the scene. I just think the venue should be different...

The problem is that Guvernment has bad attitude every saturday night. Whether you got Tiesto, Ferry or PvD or whoever. So you get a good DJ to play and all the nasty crowd it ruins it for those who really want to check out the abilities of the DJ and just have a good time. I have just come to the realization that Toronto asa whole has a ty club scene. Everybody has a role to play, nobody knows how to have a good time and its a shame. Even the bar staff sux at Guv. Now that I really think about it...Guv sucked really bad on Saturday. Damn.

From the looks of things...once I get a car, I'm gonna go up to Montreal to get my share of fun trance parties...unless, Montreal has a crowd problem too.

*sigh* Does anyone know of a good TO club with a good crowd?

By the way, I went to Guv's site, and this is the page with all the contacts. Too bad they don't have an email address for Charles Khabouth.........

You know what it is about Guv and the maxed out capacity? It's the fact that they don't open up the entire club like they did for Mauro Picotto (last summer) or even Smirnoff Experience...that gave you SOME room to dance...was never as bad as Sat (at least not for the entire nite) with not even room to stand with idiots pushing people all over. All I'm saying is that if they have just one dj (headliner) then they should put them in the Koolhaus, it's meant to handle more ppl for special events like that. If they however are going to have more than 1 dj then I say they open up the entire complex, that leaves room for everybody to dance and just hang out. Guv should just revise their planning in terms the type of event (and where to put the dj). An i agree with you Laz on the bouncers being pricks...but bouncers are pricks ANYWHERE you go.I tried going to Money and they wouldn't let us inside cause I wasn't wearing a faqqing nice dress shirt/dress pants. So I went somewhere else. I just want balance...but the music will keep me going back...
Later.

now that i see there are a fair number of people who share the same feeling and view on the guv as me... I will take it upon myself to take the innitiative.. THat idea of rounding a good number of e-mails and then sending them all to guv was good.. So, here's my e-mail address [email protected] .. Please send only intelligent letters, no vulgarity, don't just put down there club, tell them how you appreciate them bringing in these great artists, but then tell them what it is that bother'd you about the club, and give ideas on how you think they could fix.. Whether it be charging more selling tix and making a cap limit, or opening the entire club for everyone to be able to roam around.. Give something constructive, something intelligent so that they can respect what we have to say to them.. I will e-mail it directly to guv staff, if i don't get a reply within in a week i will mail them to guv, if again no reply, i will go down there myself and hand them these letters, we are customers and we deserve to be heard.. I don't think it will be much of a problem to get them to respond though, it might not be what we want to hear but i think they will respond.. ANd who knows maybe if we get enough intelligent letters and ideas together, they will listen and change things for the better...!! So again here's my E-mail address [email protected] .. i am 100% seriouse about this.. if you are two, send a letter to guv through me..And lets see if some music lovers can't change a huge business for the better ;) ...

hey Jobe5454 thank you for taking the initiative. I'll start writing a letter soon (got 2 midterms to study for) but will definately be sending you a letter very soon. I have so much beef with Guv.

Yes I totally agree with you, also smart short and to the point letters should at least read by the Guv STAFF.

Up to what date will you be collecting the e-mails???
Jobe5454
Well, im actually overwhelmed with the amount of support im getting.. I will wait at least a week from now, see how many letters come in, if they keep coming after that then ill wait longer... The best thing is to have as many of these letters as possible.. There's power in numbers.. Ill update the situation in a week..

Thanks for all yur support guys.. :)

And, lets get those letters coming in.. See, if we can't scrape up at least 20, if not more..

Man, I know what you mean about the overcrowdness!!! I was sick and tired of people walking past and pushing into me. Especially when I saw the same people walking around in circles. I'm usually pretty courtious and move out of the way for people. Last night I got fed up and used my size to my advantage. Soon enough people started to walk around me. Nevertheless, the overcrowding is a serious problem, as there was hardly any room to dance. I had to face sideways most of the night to fit in along with the vast array of bodies.

As far as the bouncers are concerned, many of them just pathetic. For few nights a week they can enjoy the power that their role brings to them, only to return to a their shallow lives and endure the wrath of low socio-economic status. This of course cannot be generalized to all of them, but I definitively know of more than a few who fall into that power-hungry low life bracket.

send it off to ya Jobe. I will be nice...I am usually pretty professional in a letter...I just rant and rave and swear like a sailor when I am on the net...hehe.

Bouncers blow everywhere I agree that they use this opportunity to act like they got power. Yes I cannot generalize but half of them have nothing else going for them...they are uneducated, know nothing about the real world because there are idiots who'll go to a club and kiss the ass of these idiots making them feel important 'Oh please let me in...I just have to get in...I know you are so busy'...please...Endlesswave...I know how these idiots act...turn you down for not wearing a style that they want in their club...its happened to me and my buddies before too...they'll act all tough and try to make you feel inferior in front of people and then two seconds later one of their friends or relatives or whatever shows up in a pair of torn up jeans whatever and they let them in no problem. Stupid. I know and expect this from bouncers but these guys were being exceptionally rude on Saturday. I say, if they don't want me spending money at their bar then its their loss and another bars gains...

I just waited in the line on Saturday and just watched these idiots talk to people like they are total idiots. Especially the one shaved head Greek guy who swore at people in greek thinking that others wouldn't understand him. Thinks he is the coolest guy. He thinks because he's a little hefty that he can intimidate people. What a lame loser!

thanks jobe
Ill draft something up and send it ... thats a pretty cool thing to do,
Do ya think you should start a new thread? then people who havent read this, and share the same opinion can also speak their mind through emails.
just another thought...
Peace:cool:

Jobe5454, I'm glad you started this thread. I'm with you totally. Don't get me wrong, I had a good time overall on Saturday, but not nearly as good as it could have been. For the first 2 hours of Ferry's set I did not enjoy it at all as it was impossible to dance, no matter where I went. In fact, it was torture. Hearing awesome tunes, but unable to release to it. Then slowly there started to be a little more room. It really wasn't till about 5am that I was able to find some room to dance, and actually most of my dancing ended up being to Mark Oliver's set (which was surprisingly good) cuz that's when there was room.

As for the overall bull of the Guv ritual (which they're not unique for, but the worse for sure), I'm again with you all. They bull they put you through, and the attitude from some of the bouncers is just inexcusable. I'm usually pretty calm at clubs, but this time I almost ended up in a fight with a bouncer right at the start of the night cuz he was screaming at me to "keep moving" when there was just nowhere to go! Then he starts threatening to throw me out cuz I asked "where do you want me to move to??"

Anyway, thanks for taking the initiative, I will definitely write a letter and send it to you. ShAwZy's idea of a new thread is a good one, and give it a revolutionary name to attract more people, LOL.

Oh, and I honestly have to think twice about going to the Guv even when there are good DJs going if things don't change. And I don't agree that it's the same everywhere. I haven't been to that many clubs in town as I'm new to the area, but at least System I've been to several times and although it does get busy there, it's still possible to dance, or find a corner with more space. That's even when they had big names like Nick Warren or Danny Howells there.
