This seams very odd.

i just found an advert for this in Dj mag.

its a service that distributes music from other labels to their database of 'industry pro's'

im thinkin it would be good to sign up my 'label'. however i then look at applying to get on the database of dj's that get sent material. and they charge $99 a month for membership! and are offering a limited number of people a place on their database. - so non pro's can pay to get on the mailing list.

now. this looks like they could be earning a fair old whack of money from distributing other peoples music.

LINK!

what do you guys think?

If they ask you to pay it's most likely complete BS. I'd stay away if I were you.

agree with mr.mystery on this. you shouldn't have to pay!

it doesn't confuse me, i think its a great way to get music exposed to the big guys withough spending a crapload of money and time on promo material everytime you want to send out promos... Most of these guys like armin/tiesto/perry/pvd and others use these kind of almost promo pools or accept only hardcopy promos(cd-r/vinyl), so it might be a great way to get you to them withought the costs of sending out promos for every new track...

I'm sure most of regular people who aren't bigger dj's or want these promos for free won't pay the subscription fee because why would they? they can just as easily go download them for free from some other shotty/pirate source...

i can see why you have your doubts, but then again theres a tradeoff...

I've never heard of anyone who's actually got airtime because of services like this. And what the hell does that pirating thing have to do with anything?

a credible representative has faith in the product he represents.

and that means he wouldn't ask you to shell out cash in advance, it might mean something along the line of, when he helps your music get out, he'd want points.
