This man's solo work is brilliant. For those who don't recognize the name, he's RHCP's guitarist (BSSM, Cali, BTW, etc). He's definately making his way up as one of my favourite musicians. His solo work is soo damn good. He uses a lot of electronic synths/soundscapes.
For samples, go to his site:
http://www.johnfrusciante.com/
wait for his head to load, then click on "music". now on the top cloud click "play music". Then click on a track. Now his tracks are mislabeled here, but my favourite right now is "Carvel" BUT click on "Song to Sing When I'm Lonely" to listen to Carvel and not the Carvel link. His web designer mislinked the songs with the names. It's got a really abstract aphex twinish intro. And his melodies are just pure bliss. |

John Frusciante is a genius, love his solo work and his work with the chili peppers of cource. I can recommend all of his albums, from the eccentric and to times disturbing "Smile From the Streets You Hold" and "Niandra LaDes" (from the time he was a heavy heroin addict, incredible that he's alive actually), to the electronic "A Sphere In The Heart of Silence", to the newest and mainly acoustic album "Curtains". You should also check out "To Record Only Water for Ten Days" where he uses synthesizers alot.
Btw, Stadium Arcadium is just around the corner, and it sounds great! Listen to 30sec samples here: http://www.citydisc.ch/music/detail...&art_nr=9408899 |

| I think his solo stuff is leftfield, weird that I can't listen to. |

this guy is great! finally someone else who recognizes his talents. after hearing his works I couldnt help but to notice how much he has influenced the whole Red Hot Chili Pepper sound, especially on the vocal end of the spectrum (though u hardly notice his vocals until u really pay attention).
Check out his bootleg cover of Radiohead's "Lucky" |

He definately added the melodic aspect to the peppers. I can comfortably say, the majority of the peppers success is a result of John's musical talent. The band has said it before, he is the main source of musical inspiration and the brains behind most of their songs.
and yeah, you can hear his humming adding harmony in the background a lot! most people think its anthony, but really its john. |
