Thanks. When I was in boarding school during high school my dorm was always thought of as being cocky. Truth of the matter is that there is a fine line between being cocky and confident. We had won 98% of all inter house challenges both althetically and academically and had around 75-80% of the schools captains and leaders living in our res, so naturally we saw ourselves as being confident in our abilities, not being cocky.
Cocky is when you can't back it up or you go too far and rub your abilities in someone else face. Confident is when you hold you head high and know you can accomplish the task at hand no matter what obsticles face you down and let your actions speak louder than your words.
It's something I've tried to continue to live by. The fact we had the t-shirts made up to say it too didn't hurt either... although that started crossing that cocky line a little bit. ;)
It would be funny if you showed up and just started yelling that you want your friends back. Wear goggles and a tin foil hat so they can't brain wash you though... always gotta watch out for your own safety! (and it would let them know that you think they are nuts!) :D |
WIKKID!
good advice Dave.......arrogance/self-confidence tis true fine line....

An ex of mine did this seminar after one of his friends convinced him to do it. It cost him like $500. Before the seminar he had a drug problem and many issues with himself and after I guess he quit drugs after only being in this "forum" for 4 days.
He then began to tell me how great it was and how his life was renewed and found deeper meaning etc. Personally I wouldn't pay $500 to do that when you can use your EAP program through work for counselling which is FREE. |

| A friend of mine here went to one of their sessions. You're not allowed to leave a session once it's started. They try to take your money (they actually chased my friend to ask why she didn't sign up right away!). They have a HUGE suicide rate. It's quite scary. Thumbs down. People need to find fulfillment in themselves and not organizations (religion exempt, 'cause faith is faith). |

Wow I didn't know they had a huge suicide rate :nervous: Landmark has a homepage and it really goes into detail what they do. Here is the course syllabus: http://www.landmarkeducation.com/display_content.jsp?top=21&mid=59&bottom=62[/URL]
In Canada the cost is $495+$100deposit+Taxes. YIKES! Go buy a Dr Phil book for under $40 :haha: |

And that's just the regular course...the advanced one is $800!
That's almost the cost of one semester's tuition for me. :nervous:

Wow, that's news to me. Doesn't surprise me though. 4 weeks ago, one of the Landmark representatives called me to convince me to sign up for a July course. I politely declined, and he just wouldn't give up. He wasn't convinced that I was sure of my answer and asked why I hesitated. He was trying to analyze me like some patient, and I came to the conclusion that I don't like to decide, and usually try to avoid choices. It's kind of funny, I had my very own mini breakthrough before even taking the course. I realized that my descision not to make a descision was a descision, and that I was wrong lol; I decided not to decide. We laughed about it after one ing hour of chat my answer was still no. He had the nerve to ask why I was still on the phone if I had already made my choice . I told him that I was proud of my victory over him, and I hung up lol. These people do not give up. Ah well...

| And I thought $75+tax for a Tiesto ticket at Circa would be a lot of money. You could buy a ticket, get some E and have a "life changing experience" for under $100 :D |

Hi folks,
The reason I brought up Amway earlier, is that I lost some friends to this business cult. And Landmark is just another one.
You're either one of them, or you're not. If you don't agree with someone who's not, they must seek direction from another who's 'in' as only someone who's in, understands.
New members are key to the organizations' success. Without new members, the cult will fail.
Cults also have a charismatic leader, and that's someone who's had the biggest success through the teachings, and that's the one all new members strive to be, and to be like the leader, one must follow all his teachings the way he did it.
Your friends's stubborness, Cribby, is obvious. She must stay away from her Landmark friends for a while to get back down to earth.

I see I'm not the only one who has lost friends because of a cult. Sadly, I don't think she'll be back...Did your friends come back? I'm guessing not, since you still refer to them being lost. :( |

We lost touch. Both moved to the states (VA & FL), and I assume they're still in it, but under Amway's new name.
Yeah, I feel sad for them, more more sad for myself. I lost friends yeah, but new friends are easier to make.... it's just a matter of time, we get over it. |
