Help Create the Toronto Version of the TA World MAP
View this Thread in Original format

Ok, the idea was originally done by the ukta's on a sunday afternoon. The idea is to get a map of your region (ie.toronto and gta) and get people's locations posted on a map. But there is a problem is this, a)we have no map (at least a good one) b)no one to take responsibility for the map c)the other forums are bugging us to do one.
Here is the uk version of it.

So what do you guys and girls think?......can we do it....if so who should take responsibility. Then we could have toronto added to the world ta map. Reply to this thread with your opinions and ideas

I don't know why it has taken us so long to even take part in this. We are TA headquarters afterall :D

It seems like a lot of people here in the Toronto forums don't visit the other sections of the board so they might not know about this. We need to get involve people! This is such a great idea.
infinity HiGH
I have a TTC map of the GTA....I guess that could be used. Its in .pdf format though, so I dunno...
cycloptor
sounds like a really good idea... but dont forget GTA includes a lot of southern ontario... maybe a map of the provence would be better?
torontotrance
we need two.......a map of southern ontario and a map of the gta

a decent map of ontario is here

That struck me as really strange too when I saw that TA world map the first time.. I said "Where the is Toronto?" lol.. I don't think using a TTC map is a good idea, hehe.. a GTA map and a provincial map would suffice..

Seems like a cool idea.

We Toronto TAs are a far more concentrated group. For example we have threads discussing our nearest intersection. A map like the UKTA would not suffice for it doesn't have enough detail. Mapquest is an excellent source for maps. Unfortunetly it won't let me directly link to it. Gonna try and attach it aswell but you'll have to change the extension to .gif ** Edit: attach didn't work. But trust me its a good map**

The only thing needed is someone with the skilz to put it all together. And i'm positive that exists here

I don't know about the mapquest idea. There's a lot of streets to cover if you want to get that specific (and personally, I'm not sure if I want to reveal my exact location to the world, lol).. also, I would gladly volunteer to help put it together but too busy nowadays :(

Good point Bizz.. there are various levels of detail on their maps tho.
Trancewave
here is a map done from the western Canada forum for this project that I really like:

however, I can see your points here. A map like that will definately not work for us since we have a few hundred TA's all living just in the city of Toronto alone nevermind the province. How should we do this? I'm not sure having a map down to our exact street location is a good idea.

Swamper
No need to get that detailed...

maybe for those in 'Toronto' can say what subway station they're closest to or something...and for others in GTA just pick landmarks... u know.. Pacific mall... Colossus... Coffee Time in woodbridge (j/k) :D
