you fvcking cretin. so, if kids were read sleeping beauty or cindarella there would need to be approval? bull you moron. the story didnt have anything to do with sex ed, just a prince that fell in love with a boy instead of a girl. if the story involved a fairy tale about a boy and a girl no one would be causing a stink.

so much for your typically moronic viewpoint.

who you calling a cretin with your gobbledegook remarks? I GOT THAT FROM THE ARTICLE YOU INCOMPETANT MAMELUKE! READ YOU TIT!

States the organization: "Lexington school officials continue to claim that homosexuality and homosexual relationships do not does not constitute ‘human sexual relationships’ and thus do not trigger the Massachusetts parental notification law – Ch. 73 Sec. 32a."

WHAT, BIIIIIIIIIIIITCH?!?!?! :whip:

parent's are mad because:

It was explained to the couple that since same-sex marriage is legal in Massachusetts, discussion of the matter is fair game -- parents do not have to be informed before or after the issue is presented. Kramer reportedly told the Wirthlins that the theme of the day was "weddings" and the teacher wanted to present all points of view on the subject.

"We are outraged," parents Rob and Robin Wirthlin told the local Article 8 Alliance. "This is a highly charged social issue. Why are they introducing it in the second grade? And we cannot present our family's point of view to our children if they don't tell us what they're saying to them."

ok, for once i have to admit, you have totally confused me.

first you say
quote:

so i stated that it wasnt a sex ed story, thus your remarks are irrelevant.

then you post this

which, to me is just agreeing with what i originally posted; that yanks are so obsessed with sex and sexuality that a fairytale can become such a heated issue, and had the story been exactly the same with a boy & a girl, there wouldnt have been any kind of concern raised at all.

*thoroughly confused*

Sad, it seems parents don't even have time these days to ask their kids "What did you learn in school today?" :(

As for the topic of the thread....
One reason I think that contributes in the USA's obsession about sex-crimes is its feminist need to equalize men and women, and in bringing these issues to the forefront as is done, I think American women are able to been seen as "more equal" in US society than in almost any other society I've encountered that has an equal or similar crime rate.

Yoepus, i think the point is that the parents DID ask the kids what they learned in school and weren't satisfied with the answer.

America as a collective whole has a very unhealthy, repressed view of human sexuality, and I believe this is the primary reason why the mainstream media plays this stuff up so much.

I mean this really goes without saying.

In terms of evolutionary psychology the two purposes of human life are survival and reproduction (replication of our genes), so scientifically, this repressed view of sexuality is one that is intrinsically against nature.

It is really our more primitive brains, such as the reptilian and mammalian that run the show even though many people like to believe it is their conscious mind (ego) that runs the show.

Religion and culture are all constructs of the ego, so they have little significance when our more primitive brains want us to do something (i.e. survive, mate).

Of course in a country of 300 million, there is a great variety of people with different mating strategies and this plays itself out at the cultural and political levels.

Actually in most any large society you will find a range of individuals with different mating strategies that people feel strongly about. One will be dominant, but not exclusively so.

Maybe not Islam, but did you know that Judaism and Buddhism are nowhere near as harsh and strict about sex as Christianity?
