This is my second or third attemt to make a trance song. Befor this I did an ok techno song for my first time using Fruity Loops.
Everything I use is from FL.
Keep in mind I am very young, and fairly new to this... Along with this just being an intro. Please tell me what you think could be improved. Should I use different instruments or just play with the levels or what? And help is really appriciated! :D

Trance intro

(I haven't really thought of a name for it yet either)

the first thing i really noticed is that you need to turn that lead synth down in the mix... its far too loud and is covering everything up.

also yes different synths/instruments will definately help you.

Ok. I will do that! :D What do you suggest, instrument wise?
TranscendentalP
well since you're only using FL i'd use sytrus or WASP...

trust me once you start learning some new stuff you're gonna want different synths... i used to make all my stuff with just the FL stuff..

it's horrible

especially the drum samples

you can identify the preset synths right off listening to this. you need to invest in some good vst's and kick samples. that kick is poor just sounds flat and boring. percs aren't even noticable in this. i think you need perc samples too to progress. doesn't really go anywhere. bass, where is it? you got to get a bass in this.

dont take this as me ripping you apart. this is help. believe me i produced e and people guided me and im still learning. ive learnt most of my skills on this forum so dont take criticism to heart. look at the areas people point out and work on them. you can only get better.

good luck!

Yeah. I really want to learn some new stuff. You know of anything free that would help me out? Even if it was just for fading the levels of instruments in and out and all that jass. (I am really bad at the trance lingo)

Ok. Completely new kicks, percs, and a bass line. (when I said I am new I was not kidding... I am embarrassed to say this, but what are percs again? I used to know but I haven't been on here in a while.)
And as for the levels... Cept for the lead, does everything seem ok? (And how do you suggest I change the "preset" sound? (I messed with it a little but it still sounds like crap)
TranscendentalP
it's all about experimentation

learn how each of the items on the synth effect the sound... like the cutoff, attack, delay, sustain, etc.

its all about experiemenation and you will find as you make more tracks you will improve your sounds and techniques.

when i was starting out, i generally tried to learn one or two new things and apply them to a track (like fading in and out, cutoffs, etc.)

I'm still learning and I've goin for a little over a year and just now my tracks are starting to sound better and more professional.

there are lots of tutorials on here and the rest of the net about just about everything you'd need to know.

you should download synth1 for sure, its a real good free synth. don
t have a link but im sure someone can tell u it.

percs = percussion. if you aint got the money for vst's. download them. look up vanguard and v station. this are 2 good trance vsts. the saw synth just isnt doing it for me. sounds like something that has came with fruity. change the oscillators and lower the tones. although i recommend staying clear of preset synths and use vsts or hardware. the track is empty. everything is central. have your percs panning or get a panning pad going. you need to use the whole sound otherwise your track will sound flat. more layers needed but i think a bass in here would fill the middle area. you do need a direction to go in. at the minute it sounds like you began with a kick and added things as you went along. get a good hook (catchy part of a track) and work towards it, you will find its much easier to produce this way.

Holy crap I am stupid. :toothless But thanks very much!
Do you know if and how to make an instrument pan back and forth durring the whole song? Cause I have wanted to do that for a while. And as for the hook, that was the next thing I was going to work on. The part I put up was just a sort of introduction and RIGHT after where it ends was going to be a lead.
(Vst's will probly help. I will check on those too.)
Thanks a great deal man! I really apreciate it :happy2:

i dont use fruity loops i use cubase so wouldnt be too sure how to pan on that. but it should be simple. on cubase you have your track and click the drop down menu or just use the facility to the left. press record and move the cursor left to right. its simple. do a search on google for panning with fruity im sure you will find something.
