I've used FL Studio for about a year now and I've been starting to feel like it doesn't have enough. I just installed Cubase SX 3 and it looks like I'm going to have a lot of fun with this thing. I'm having a rough time getting started. I can't find where to load external synths?
Basically I'm trying to get Vanguard in there, I can't find anywhere to load a VST that isn't one of the Cubase defaults. Where in the menu do I find this lol? |

| Try F11 followed by your manual :). |

Hit F11, pick your favorite VSTi.
Along with what the others have said regarding the manual... The built in help, which strangely doesn't come with Cubase SX3, you have to go and download it from Steninberg, is extremely well written and very helpful. Its some of the best help I've come across. Especially when compared to horribly written help like what comes with FL Studio, IMO, but I guess you get what you pay for. Ableton is another one that has awesome, well designed help to get anyone using it without much headache. |

| make sure that the vanguard.dll is in program files/steinberg/cubase sx 3/vstplugins. Hit F11 in cubase and select it from the list. Add a midi track and assign the out to vanguard. |

ahhh the VST's have to go in that DIR? I'm used to FL studio where I can specify what directory my VST's are in. |

Damn you bet me to it.
Sadly many people forget that most of the software out there actualy have help files. Warezed or non warezed. |

AFAIK most warezed software does indeed have the manual. |

You still can. I can't be bothered now to open cubase and get you the hotkeys. But this folder is the default anyway.

Under "Devices -> ..... Plugins" something, can't remember what it's called, and don't feel like starting SX to check it out, you can set the path to where Cubase looks for VSTs
Oh, and the phrase RTFM was invented for a purpose :p |
