K I've had my belly button pierced since I was 15...and have been wearing this banana ring thingy for about a year, and only in the past few months has it been acting up and getting red and sore. So I took it out and kept it clean and let it heal a bit....I recent put the ring back in and now it's super stretched and red again.

Anyone know what to do? :(

maybe dont wear it anymore.

or your skin could be having an allergic reaction to the metal :conf:
KaiLee
I dunno about that...because I've worn this certain belly ring for over a year now

Can you develop allergic reactions later in your life?

Cuz I'd get allergic reaction from certain dust and I've never had that problem in life.

the ring might be coated with metal on the outside and with another material on the inside. you might be allergic to the inside of your banana ring. hope it gets better for you ;)

Sea Salt mixed in hot water.

Put it in a shot glass, and cup the glass over your belly button for 10 mins, twice daily. The belly ring may need a really good cleaning too.

Oh yes!!
That's what Im using for my nose and it's working very quickly!!
It's cheap and very effective!

EDIT:you can get it at any health food stores. That's where I got mine. Cost like 0.57$ for a bag full.

you need steriods and a new belly button asap. Your old one is borke.

naw, just follow what the others have said above me. I switch my navel peircing every six months and do serious cleaning of it even though I've had mine for about 7 years now.

As for developing allergies later on in life I know of a few people who in their early 20's developed new ones. My self included to certain pollens. I learned about mine after I worked out side landsacping one full summer when I was 19 and about half way through the second summer when I was 20 I was doing the same job my eyes wouldn't stop watering and I was constantly sneezing for weeks (I thought I was really sick). Took an allergy shot and it cleared up in a day.

Bactine may dry it out. Go for sea salt / water to sanitize, and maybe some triple-antibiotic ointment 1-2 times /day, and make sure you run it thru the piercing- but only the smallest amount - you dont need to goop it all up.

Your body could be rejecting it, which can happen at any time.
