There are at least 8 remixes of this tune. So saying the effect at 2.36 is cool is similar to saying "my favorite food is meat."
But I am guessing its a flanger effect giving the synth that squelchy sorta sound. Highpass can do this too. But more than likely it's a flanger.
And yeah, its a good tune.
