the best part about the night was that it was not a cluster . It usually takes a really good DJ to get me over to Avalon which means it is always PACKED!

last sat was not packed at all and I have never seen Holden B4 so it was nice to hear an unfamiliar sound. I thought he was really good. However Josh wink was cool for about 20 min. and then that got boooooooorrrrriiiiinnnnggggg.

seeing BOB's face all night made me laugh, good times bud.

Finally my nigs & nigettes:

Rebecca Sin did a good job of setting up the night.

Josh Wink started off his set pretty deep, techy, and groovey, definitley was feeling his vibe, but after 30 minutes, the set got very monotonous pretty fast, which is ashame, because I've seen Josh Wink two times before, own three of his CDs, and he was playing much better than this. It was probably 'cause he was opening for James and couldn't outstage him, but nevertheless, he could have done way better. Highlight of Wink was when he dropped 'Higher State of Consciousness' (Eyes in the Circle of Life remix), which Carrie and Bob decided to stay outside in the patio for, hehe. How dare you hang outside when a classic is playing! Me & Chris jammed out to the original before the show.

Holden was definitley the main event, there was definitley good reason for it, no doubt about it. His set was very eclectic: from deep atmospheric IDM, to bleepy minimal techno, acid, electro, progressive house and a lot of Border Community tunes. There's no point in classifying what he plays because you wouldn't know where to begin. The best way I can describe it is trance on drugs. Or as Holden described it himself: "Aphex Twin doing Ferry up the butt." Haha. Very trippy, dreamy stuff. The mixing & trackselection was ace -- it was Balance all over again -- he's progressed so much as a DJ and definitley knows how to rock crowds. Armin needs to re-evaluate what he means by "A State of Trance" cuz I can tell you Holden understands the meaning a lot better. I was in another state of mind that's for sure. He also seemed a lot more happy than when I saw him last October with Lavelle, he was smiling, taking pictures, and wasn't all stony-faced, hehe. Overall, the show was very good, definitley worth the trip. Holden will stay high up in my top DJ's list for a long time to come...

Holden 4 Prez!

P.S. My sis couldn't stop texting me about how amazing Daft Punk were. Wish I were there. She also saw Mylo Day 2 and said he was sick.

I feel that I got cheated with Holden only playing for about 2 hrs. I think I siked myself up too much since I got spoiled during WMC with his 6hr set at BED. It felt like it was over just as he began to really open up.

The highlight of the night for me though, was when he walked right up to the bar next to me and I got to strike up a conversation with him about WMC. I even had my camera with me which still had the WMC photos in it. His face lit up as I shuffled through some pics I took of him hanging with everyone @ Nocturnal during Sven's set. too funny

Then I decided at the last second to drive all the way out to Coachella to catch Day 2. Suprised all my friends when I got there. Arrived just in time to catch the second half of G&D's set, then snuck up front to experience Kaskade and Oakenfold. Which totally made up for getting cheated at Holden.

Amazing weekend it really turned out to be. :eyespop:  :eyespop:  :tongue2

Sounds like it was a pretty disappointing night with the whole curtain fiasco. You know who what wasn't a disappointing night?

I had a pretty good time. I thought Wink opened up strong. He was throwing down some sick ass basslines. Towards the end, it was getting a little dry though. Holden was pretty much everything I was expecting which was to say great. I hadn't seen him before so I don't have anything to compare it to. If he can be even better, wow!!! He looked like he was having alot of fun up there. Two hours was too short but I was drinking and the alcohol had warn off by the end of his set. I was pretty beat by the time AHP came out and promptly headed for the door.

It was nice to finally meet Lomeli, refuge and Tigo #2. Sorry we may not see you again for a while Rene. Good luck with the Army. Stay safe. Great hanging out with Tigo, Chris, Julia, Simon, Carrie, Bjourn, Bob, Ivan and others I'm sure I'm forgetting. Somehow we missed both Mo's.

Here are a few pics I took. None of the shots of Wink or Holden turned out. It was dark and my tiny lens just couldn't grab enough light. I hate flashes!!! For some reason, I don't take as many pics when I'm drinking lol
