not really a good thing for the economy. US spending in Canada for things like tourism and Hollywood filming movies here is down. But it is good for Canadian consumers buying goods from the states |

yes, but this means less jobs for Canadians.
a high Canadian dollar is bad for business.
Coupled with the insane inflation, i smell recession coming very soon. |

Yes, some producers of marginal profitability will be squeezed out of the market place.. is this a bad thing, or just growing pains in the transition to a more knowledge-based economy? Other than that, the high Canadian dollar benefits not only domestic investors (who benefit from a strong, stable currency with a high rate of return on government issued securities) but also domestic consumers who purchase goods abroad. Furthermore, core inflation (that is inflation with regards to all products except energy and food) over the near term has been negligible. |

0.60$ USD to 1 CDN $ good for business, bad for regular Joe's who want to travel
0.90$ USD to 1 CDN$ bad for business, good for regular Joe's who want to travel abroad.
It does suck the amount of people who are losing jobs because of the high dollar and all. I am really sorry for them.
One thing I am happy with the high dollar, its so much cheaper to shop for stuff in the states. |
