Coachella was good.
Coachella offically started at 11pm. That is when it started. Lots of great DJ sets, but the only reason I flew to coachella was for Daft Punk. Within 5 mins of finding out that they were playing there, my plane tickets were already bought. I pumped myself up. I knew the show was going to be good. but how good.
The expectation of mine of daft punk can be compared to a kid wanting a new bike for christmas, but instead getting a new car. I had high expectation, but NOT TO BE BLOWN OUT THE DAMN ROOF!!! There set was flawless. All DJ's before and after had there ups and down, Not so of Thomas and Guy-Manuel. From the very beginning, actually even before the beginning, they just came out strong, starting with the simple 5-note tune from the "Encounters of the third kind." That was even before the curtains when up. As the curtins were drawn back seeing them in all their glory, i mean TRULY the way they are reconized, with the helmets. DAMMMMMNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!! :D
Many dj's go up and down, NOT THEM AT ALL. At a scale of 1 - 10, they started at 20 and stayed there the WHOLE NIGHT! All the songs were theirs, much of it remixed, but with them it was not just about the music. As with all their videos, this had a story to go with it. With a DJ setup the way they had ALL the music was perfectly sync. With something like that i wished it would never end. But then it was about midnite, when it shut down. :( ONLY TO BE BROUGHT BACK UP!!! They were still rocking hard. Then about 15 mins later, they shut down again. :( JUST TO BRING IT BACK UP! The only thing that i expected, (but i really don't think it would be possible since they wouldn't be able to see) would be their helmets flashing words :p MAN THAT WOULD BE SICKER THE SICK!
I have been to many events in my life the Loveparades, Tiesto in Concert, Monster Massives, Ultra Music Festival, WMC, etc... Some of those were just amazing, but i say this; without being prejudice even as you all know that they are my #1 favorite DJ's out there...That was the most amazing DJ set i have ever seen in my entire life. Now i can finally forgive myself for missing them the last time they were in Los Angeles. I have seen everybody that i wanted to see before, even so much as seeing Armand Van Helden for the first time in WMC, who of course is my #2 DJ out there, Daft Punk was the missing puzzle piece, i was missing the frosting on my cake. DO you know how awesome it is to have the favorite for last? Man it's a great feeling. I'm still so hype up. What made it more special was being able to experience this with some of the greatest people I know :) If only Kris, Mike, and Carrie came it would have been complete.
To be part of the first live show in over 6 years, made wait well worth it.
here are my pics and make sure to check out the vids near the end of the album as well.

I was completely blown away by Daft Punk. I still can't believe how good they were. It was probably the only time in my concert going life that I had absolutely no other thoughts about anything else other than feeling the music for an entire set. And despite being so packed (35,000 according to their myspace website) there was still space to move and move up (unlike madonna or oakenfold).
Everyone agrees with that. the coachella message boards have quite a lot of videos posted, and plans to petition for a release of the show in some form. There were a lot of camera's filming them... |

John, you hyped these guys for months before coachella. Now, I like Daft Punk, but I'm not a huge fan, (or should I say wasn't?!!) and I expected them to be good, but nothing crazy. Lets just say, you did not hype them up enough... :wtf:
That was one of the sickest shows I have seen in my life. The way they had control of that tent was insane. Every known track they dropped, it blew the up! The mixing was crazy, their demeanor was crazy (guy in a robot suit bobbing his head while 35,000 people are goin nuts in front of him)
I am, as of Sunday morning 12:20am, a FAN. |

Man!!! DP EN AMAZING! They've been my favorite since Around The World. Anyone that was back then knew that we all played the out of that record. I had never seen them before, and I was en left speechless.
I only wish I would've recorded when they played Technologic. That was one of my highlights of the night. The word flashing on the LED wall in sync with the song was amazing!
I have videos that I took during Around The World and One More Time. I'll post those later. I knew there was a film crew video taping the whole thing. I wonder who they were. |
