It's been a busy semester but I just finished another tune. Your comments have been of great help to me.
This one starts fairly proggy with a nice little violin riff before breaking into more standard trance. The breakdown features a quick breakbeat part.
The track is 192kbps, I can upload a higher quality one if anyone wants.
The song will start playing right away, it can be d/l'd by simply clicking on "download." Can't wait to hear your comments!

Listening to your song.
Bass is pretty cool but could use some more reverb. Violin part that comes in is pretty catchy. Nice melodies going on here. The change to trance is pretty awesome too. I just think that the song sounds a bit thin...something phatter needed. Maybe try some more effects. |

If you must apply reverb, do so sparingly... it's generally not a good idea to give bass reverb.
Nice pop of a clap there. The bassline is funky and the vibe is laid back in an after-hours kind of effect.
To me, progressive trance seems to be more like melodic trance on some major chill-pills. The pads are very airy and etheral without having any tension whatsoever. Then there's this violin patch... this is sounding similar to house. You seem to have it nailed, but it seems more like deep-trance to me, but I don't listen to much of either, therefore my feedback is not too helpful.
We have some synthy chimes filtered in through a break. They definately give the track more of a trance-flavor, but I'm not so sure how much they contribute to the mood that you already estabilished. It fits, sure, but the saws bring out some tension that I'm not sure was warranted. I could easily be wrong.
The percs and bass do seem thin when the whole track is sat through. Maybe some compression is in order to phatten up their club-energy.
Otherwise, a very chill track with some deep-trance progressiveness. Good luck with your future productions. |

| its nice with relitivelly smooth and progressive vibe. I like the violin and the bassline is pretty premium :) |

thanks for the great feedback guys! definately the most positive reviews i've received so far:D
getting a good bass sound has always been something of a problem for me. there is indeed no reverb on the bass, but i don't think that is the problem. there is no compression either, and that is something i definatley need to try. i'll get right on it.
as for adding the saws, i had intended on keeping it more of a housey track, but the next riff i came up with that fit the song just sounded like it needed that classic supersaw sound so i put it in. thanks for the compliments on the violin, i'm really happy with how that turned out.
thanks again, keep the comments coming! |
