"High-tech thieves are becoming increasingly savvy when it comes to stealing automobiles equipped with keyless entry and ignition systems. While many computer-based security systems on automobiles require some type of key Ñ mechanical or otherwise Ñ to start the engine, so-called ÔkeylessÕ setups require only the presence of a key fob to start the engine." Yah, but now the police are starting to develop bait cars. This basically means that they go and find one of the cars that is top-ranked in auto theft and equip it with a satellite tracking system. After that they run a program through it somehow which links remotely to a laptop in which a cop can control the car. The cop can lock the criminal(s) inside the car, the cop can also stop the car whenever he/she wants even with the key in the ignition and the car running.

The largest operation for bait cars is in Vancouver if I am not mistaken.

But Bait cars are the most common car that would be stolen like the old fashion way. These dudes are using insider info and a laptop how to get into cars that are $$$.

In Canada people had their homes broken into so thieves could get the keys to the cars so they could steal the cars.

lol so after David Beckham had his car stolen, he bought another one, which was also stolen. poor Beckham

i think this is sort of a special circumstance. it looks like they might have targeted beckham specifically. i dont know much about cars, is there something special about a BMW X5? doesnt look like much

your average run-of-the-mill car chop-shop thief isnt going to be this sophisticated. at least not yet. these kind of articles love to fox-news-it playing it off as if the crime is becoming a national problem

Imagine all those people driving Aston Martin's and Lamborghini's getting their cars stolen by a person that has a laptop bahahaha :nervous:
