"High-tech thieves are becoming increasingly savvy when it comes to stealing automobiles equipped with keyless entry and ignition systems. While many computer-based security systems on automobiles require some type of key Ñ mechanical or otherwise Ñ to start the engine, so-called ÔkeylessÕ setups require only the presence of a key fob to start the engine." | Yah, but now the police are starting to develop bait cars. This basically means that they go and find one of the cars that is top-ranked in auto theft and equip it with a satellite tracking system. After that they run a program through it somehow which links remotely to a laptop in which a cop can control the car. The cop can lock the criminal(s) inside the car, the cop can also stop the car whenever he/she wants even with the key in the ignition and the car running. |

The largest operation for bait cars is in Vancouver if I am not mistaken.
But Bait cars are the most common car that would be stolen like the old fashion way. These dudes are using insider info and a laptop how to get into cars that are $$$.
In Canada people had their homes broken into so thieves could get the keys to the cars so they could steal the cars. |

your average run-of-the-mill car chop-shop thief isnt going to be this sophisticated. at least not yet. these kind of articles love to fox-news-it playing it off as if the crime is becoming a national problem |
