Hi all,

Third colab here between Dj Martin P(UK) and Charlie Darwin(NL). It's ment to be progressive but it's bordering on ambient or something.

Enjoy!

Not sure if it's my phones or the quality of the MP3 but the kick is just totaly lost in the bass. Sounds like it could really do with some heavy EQ'ing to help seperate the two out.

The melodic elements are nice, and I like the ambient stabs and pads but again it's all getting lost in that bass which is real a shame because I can hear a nice track in there somewhere!...

Personally I would stick a hi-pass filter on the bass set at around 40Hz just to cut out the muddy sub-bass elements. Then I would use an EQ on the kick and search around till I found where the initial part of the kick sits - i.e. set a an EQ with a small bandwidth /Q value and cut as much as possible, then sweep the feq up and down till the kick drops out, make a note of what the feq is and remove the EQ from the kick track. Then put an EQ on the bass and cut at the same frequency, this will let your kick push through the bass and not get so swamped. You might have to play around with the bandwidth / Q setting as well as how much cut to apply in order to get the best effect here. I'd also recomend using a bit of compression with a fairly fast attack just to beef up the initial crack of the kick.

Hope this helps!

I agree with Interlink.

You need to tame that bass sound as it's eating up all your headroom and makes the whole track seem sluggish.

Filter the low end between 40 to 80 (approximately) and and tame the 250 to 800 region as this is destorying what appears to be a fine track otherwise.

You could probably afford to do something similar with the kick.

Once you have done this you may find that you have room for a few more elements but that's entirely up to you.

Cheers

I jus heard it one my headphones for the first time and your both right. I don't have a subwoofer, just two monitor speakers, there wasn't much rong on those. I'v fixer it now though. I did a full mastering of the track too, it's improved a little imo.

I uploaded the update but it can take a few hours b4 the track can be heard.

this track is nice, the bass feels a bit empty on my headphones.

damn the pads youve used in this track is nice :).

the percs are fine :).

theres alot of nice moments in this tune.
i realy like the progression off this tune, its chilled and it stills keep the drive.

hey mate,

im currently listening to your track,

i like the start, bassdrum sounds good to me, has pretty much low frequencies, i like that.

sequencing on the synth sounds very good to me, soundwise they do sound a bit static and dry to my ears.

the pads in the break do sound very good indeed, cool that you added a bass pad, i like.

after the break, same sequence than before the break. no noticable changes excepting the bass variation.

i hoped to hear a fresh element.

nice synth that comes up around 4 minutes, sounds abit like an e-piano, very good sounding.

clean production and professional sounding. good work mate.

Wow is this the same track?!? So much better!

Bass, kick and perc is sounding great now :) Loving all the panning a phasing fx...

Nice synth lines, all bubbly and spine tingly..

Track's driving nicely..

Digging the pads - very smooth...

I think the lines that come in @ 3:50 could possibly do with comming in a bit sooner as the track starts to loose it's momentum at around 3:00...

Love the break @ 5:00 - good spot fx and wooshy bits!

Overall I'm definately liking this. I guess my only crit is that it does seem to loose it's momentum a little bit towards the middle. Personally I'd like to see a bit more variation braught into the arrangement here. Not that I necessarily think you need more lines, there's plenty there already, but maybe try dropping a few lines out or adding a bit of variation to the perc in places just to give it all more ebb and flow...

Otherwise great track! Really glad you sorted the bass / kick out and upped this version :D

Thanks guys,

Well after hearing from a lot of people that there should be more variation in the last part of the track we're considdering that. To kind of keep the momentum going on the track.

But we're taking a break from this tune for a while because we have been hearing it being looped in our ears for 20 hours. We are having some guys doing remixes of the track. After that we will have have some fresh ideas to put into the track

the tune is to simple, but i can say that of a lot of tracks.

it`s boring

maybe not my style :-)

Hey Nick!
This sounds great. It's the best i've heard from you so far.
Sounds like the collab works well between you and mp. Spits out good tracks :p

Very nice sequence,
First break sounds good, but i expected it to be longer.
The pad sounds great, nice effects going on..

The only thing i can complain about is the percs, maybe add some more.
Sounds like its the same drums through the whole track. Maybe some more variation too.

Overall is this very good! I love the melodies, and the atmosphere in it. Great work!

Keep it up! I'm waiting for more stuff from you two ;)
