The audiophile 24/96 got dam good reviews in computer music magazine and is supposed to have the same codec’s as the Delta 1010.
You cannot go wrong with the audiophile 24/96 as the sound quality is amazing and the latency is really low with asio drivers.

Your monitors will tell you how your music really sounds, but your monitors are only as good as your soundcard.
Sometimes you have frequencies on a vst and samples that sound bad and you cannot hear them, you put a cd in the car or hi fi system and you notice a high pitch squeal or noise on your speakers that wasn’t there when you where making the tune.
People always told me my kicks where weak or there was noise on my tunes that I couldn’t hear till I got a decent soundcard, I then got some better monitors and I’m hearing things I never noticed before.
Now I know I can put them right, I’ve got samples that suck and synth presets that sound bloody awful and I won’t use them anymore because of the soundcard and monitors.
Don’t have a weak link in your system!

cool tnx! that sound card is pretty cheap (99 euros), i think i will buy it.

btw I think I am going to buy KRK RP-8 monitors, read some good things about them... Of course I have to hear them first in the store.

Other contenders were:
alesis mk2 active (my budget is higher than these so...)
mackie HR824 (too expensive)
Dynaudio Bm5a (hmmm a bit pricey)

Thinking back I remember the Soundblaster Cards didnt have a very linear output. Were coloring the sound a lot.

Of course real monitors will still improve the way you work compared to standard hifi speakers. However u wont have a frequency range as linear as e.g. with the ProTools AD/DA Chips

i have the m-audio bx5a monitors...and they rock! theyre perfect for my apt, not too big like the bx8a, and not too small like computer speakers...plus the blue power light on the monitors look so cool

im also using the maudio 2496 soundcard with it, and everything sounds great!

I swear to god, this blue light has increased the intensity of almost every high I've ever had since I've purchased them.

And check out the way it bounces off of plastics, and fill a glass of water and watch the way that blue laserledthing creates little hallucinations in it.

It's bad ass!

Though I'm not using that card, I totally agree.
Best below 100€
