I'm white and got denied at Crobar once on a Saturday night because I wasn't wearing a button up shirt even though I was with Christina. I just went home and changed and came back.
This was back in July of 2004, but I do think that they are more strict with dress code on Saturdays. |

+1
I swear, CP is the music board for the mentally challenged. Sometimes when I'm baffled by the stupidity that I find on TA, I just go there and realize it's not so bad here. |

konjin is right

they were still there when everyone else left
honestly if its true wat crobar is doing then thats fuked up
but i know on sat nights they are a lil more strict but if you were dressed up then thats discrimation
i only go to crobar if a good dj is there and i always get advanced tickets so they cant really say anything on if iam not dressed as nice but i usally still try to dress ok
crobar's managment does suck they need to fix it cause the club is great somethin the nyc scene hassent seen in a while |

Please don't take me the wrong way but do you really even need to ask WHY?
NYC clubs are under so much heat for drug use, and the asians are the ones that are out of control with it. Yea all the other races use them too, but you never hear anyone say "whats with all those crack out whiteboys making a scene in the back of the club"
No, everyone else just takes what they're gonna take, and stays low key about it.
I'm not saying it's right, but if I was a club owner, and had the feds up my ass about drug use, Asians would be the last people I'd want in my club.
The club is a private business, not a public park. It's purpose is to make money for the owners/investors, if something is threatening that, they're going to take whatever measures they need to in order to secure their finances. |

I am not asain but I was offended by your post. And no "Please don't take me the wrong way but ...." didnt make me feel much better.
Anyway......
If the club is indeed doing this....its just plain wrong. |

| exactly WHO are those middle-aged asian people at the dance clubs anyway? where do they come from?? i get a kick out of when i see them b/c they are so ed up...actually, i feel bad for them as they lay there tweeked out beyond belief. they do give asians a bad rep but in all honesty can one really put them in the SAME category as normal asian americans? come on, most of you people including the ones at crobar i'm sure have asian friends or acquaintances. but shame on crobar for blatant discrimination...people go to listen to the music, right?? one of the biggest draws to EDM is the MUSIC, the one common thing people go to experience. racism has no role in this music. |

You can't use the laws of economics to analyze sensitive topics like this. If we were to apply your line of reasoning to shopping, you might say, "Well, it looks like whites make more money than any other racial group, so let's only open our store to them so we can get the highest paying customers in here." Sounds crazy, no? Well, it's just as crazy as not letting asians into crobar because they get cracked out more obviously than anybody else. We had the civil rights movement for a reason but apparently, not everyone has caught on yet...
Now, of course you can make the counter argument that this segregation stuff happens automatically and the difference between active and passive enforcement of segregation policies is difficult to see, but that doesn't change the fact that it's still wrong. |
