Okay, so i have to give it to you, i haven't tried the hardware bass-station, exept for a little testing in the store in the 90's. |

Tau, Audiorealism Bassline, Junglist, Albino, Trilogy, even Vanguard can do bass very well. Its not about the synth you use, its about the post processing.
Use an EQ cut around 400-500 Hz to remove the digital twang of your bass. Light compression with an attack of about 18ms & 6:1 ratio to start off with. The rest is all experimentation. |

Word. The 400-500hz range is also a good range to cut on kicks as well.
Also the 150hz area can be also troublesome.
I love Audiorealism Bassline Pro.
Although it can be a little be sketchy sometimes. Axo, you ever tried it? You ever notice it being a little sketch? |

Nah I havnt used the pro version just the regular version. From what I've heard its more suited to acid leads than basslines though??!
I've switched over to Tau Pro for most of my basslines... seems to do the trick :) |

I think Cybernetica has used Audiorealism alot for his basslines; the really deep, driving ones. |

| Yeah apparently Protoculture uses Audiorealism too for most of his tracks too. Gives you a good deep synthy bassline, perfect for that heavy drving trance sound :) |

I use my Waldorf Pulse for most of my basswork. A great sounding monosynth with analogue filters.
I've also recently discovered the FabFilter Twin plugin, which surely is capable of some mean basslines :) |

from what i know cybernetika uses several plugins for bass like; audiorealism and vb-1. vb-1 for the darkpsy ones.
i use vb-1 for darkpsytrance basses :).
my other basses are often sytrus and z3ta+. |

There's a good 303 emulator VST called the Bassline (forget who makes it atm), but it's pretty cheap and sounds excellent for nice 303 square/saw basslines.
I'm using my virus pretty much exclusively for everything these days, but tbh you can make good basslines in most instruments. The hardest part about bass is getting it mixed properly into your track. |
