so is being a lieutenant all it's cracked up to be? so many people have told me its really like the best few years. i'm uber excited to get to my first base and all...

...but i'm afraid of screwing up and being "that new LT that doesn't know what's going on"

the excuse, "it's my first day" can only last so long....amiright?

um... its ok i guess.. im sure the Army differs greatly than the AF, but i have noticed that the Army promotes much faster than the other 3 so the age difference between 2LTs, 1LTs, and CPTs isnt all that much.. i even know 24yo CPTs.. but the enlisted see new officers come in all the time and know you dont know , so use that and ask them questions as often as you can b/c it also makes them feel important for helping that "senior" guy,.. as far as officers, they will expect you to ask questions but know the academic part of your job and not day to day ... you'll be allowed to play dumb as long as you want, but you'll probably have figured out the system before your "playing dumb time" is over,... and never volunteer for anything EVER!!

haha, well, i already know that w/ the AF the 2nd LTs get "additional duties" put on them besides whatever their regular job is. like either a voting POC or in charge of some kind of fundraiser or change of command ceremonies or pretty much any other random task they pass out.

whether or not i get to volunteer for which one i want, i dunnoo....but i know i'll be doing something like that.

the AF promotion isn't too bad for the first few ranks. like 2 years until 1T LT and another 2 years until Cap't [but then like 12 years for Major]. so there'll be a lot of people close to my age, which i think is pretty cool.

as a wx officer too, chances are that at least one of my first assignemnts will be on an army station, just because AF weather deals with Army weather too.

I just took my hardest final. I lasted about an hour before I caved and turned it in. I cant stand sitting there stewing over an exam. I hate people that just stare at their answers until time's up.

RAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAWR!!!

well holy .. additional duties are my specality.. i dont think i ever do anything "artillery" per-se anymore... i fukin plan family fun days, hail and fairwells, make videos of pictures, safety officer, fire marshall, etc... its in BS i tell you...

that promotion thing in army is 18months to the day to make 1LT and then antoher 18-21 months to CPT, then like 6 or 7 years to MAJ... its crazy to think that in like 6 years I'll be MAJ Zewad (if i stay in)

ya w00t.. come to Ft. Sill, OK... lots of Army and with that much Arty flying through the atmosphere we need good AF dudes... plus we do joint force things with the AF to do CAS (close air support) with your planes...
