I really liked this cd, even more then #4. I only had a few problems with the set.

The only track choice I didnt like was #5, while i enjoyed the actual track, the vocals just annoyed me heh.

The other things were the first two tracks, aside from the transition. the actual recording sounds like crap.

mine should'nt have been abrupt the song just echoes out. maybe your download got cut off? i dled it off my site and it's fine. anyway the speed is ok?

isoterra: excellent review. thanks. i had pretty much the exact same sentiments.

the intro track is well done and perfect but the abrupt begining of Deadline really kills the flow. the track sounds unnaturally slow too. it's a good track but your right it's more of a peak-time track and a combination with it being too slow makes it a bad choice at this point.

excellent job with Lost You Somewhere Evelon. great transition and an awesome soothing classic to chill the flow at this point. pulls the mix up in quality really well. nice.

No Fate is a great choice. love the tune but not too set on it's placement here. didn't seem to flow too well from Lost You Somewhere. i think it was probably a hard track to blend from anyway. nice stuff anyways. didn't kill anything for me.

pretty much agree entirely with isoterra on Age of Vagueness. absolutely love Lost Vagueness and knew it had to show up in the mix. not too keen on the vocal mashup, didn't hurt and was a good effort to make it fresh but as isoterra said; it didn't add anything for me.

never heard this track before and I absolutely love it!! seriously a gem in the rough! but yeah the transition sucks balls. shows a serious lack of care with something like this. you only have one transition to show off your DJ worth here and it's not a live mix so you can do it as many times as you need to get it right. theres no excuse for this unless you don't care or are seriously lacking an ear for this stuff in which case you should give up DJing. :(

ok, nice transition into Circus Bells... but this track? no offence RX but i hated this track. is this even trance? it seems really out of place mate. nice job on finding such an old track but if it means a track like this i'd prefer something newer. this just annoys the crap outta me. :p

Nether World is a great choice Jake. but doesn't flow to well from Circus Bells imo. shouldn't have tried to blend that intro melody with the bells lol. probably a hard track to come out of so no sweat. anyway stellar selection. love the tune.

great transition here Mon-Soon! really nicely fads away into your track in an interesting way. isoterra's right about the energy lulling here but i didn't have to much to contend with it. i thought it was rather nice. sort of a filler track in my opinion though, but a good one none the less. :)

i thought this track was great and the transition was awesome imo. not a sharp jump for me. you had a bit of a rest with the previous track and then this track pulls the energy in nicely. perfectly actually. a real treat here.

another awesome transition here. plays off the previous track nicely and is a pleasing classic to say the least. this mix didn't seem to have much meat to it though. doesn't show off Cafe Del Mar's space melody too much imo.

excellent transition here Stevieboy! very cleverly done. not a huge fan of the track though. a little before my time i think but is a really nice track to have here. class.

again a great transition. awesome track. i think this was THE first trance track that i heard. absolutely fell in love with this tune. brought me to a different world. thanks for the addition of this great mix.

interesting and enjoyable tune Clovis. ;) absolutely perfect transition. after your track sets in and then drops off a bit and you can hear faint melodies from Flaming June i was astounded!! simply beautiful. the track is playful a nice bit of diversion at this point in the mix. something more epic and trancy at this point would have been on point for me though. this is the spot in the mix where i normally peak but this was a excellent way to go instead for sure. great job.

i thought my track is a bit obvious but i absolutely love it and for some reason when i was fishing around for classics when this was just getting off the ground and i heard this track again i somehow knew it was the track i'd use. i didn't even know my place at that point. i litterally had 47 different classic tracks i had 'narrowed' it down to choose from. :D anyway that track happened to work pretty damn well and i'm glad it was the one. actually for kicks i tried to mash it up with Miss Shiva - Dreams (Humate Remix) and it would've sounded ok if i was better at mashups. i just couldn't get that awesome bassline from Dreams into the breakdown where I wanted. oh well.

many thanks again to mr2gti for hosting this. such a fun thing to do with you guys. always so interested at what people come up with and am so glad a diverse selection of dj's joined. overall a really steallar mix that i'm going to keep forever.

cheers.

ps. as for the name I think just 'Classics' is fine as it's a special mix and it would pull it apart from our standard 'overly-sophisticated' naming scheme. :p plus it's already in the great artwork so that wouldn't have to be changed.
Bamboozles
good mix, just started listening to it, one comment so far........transition from dutch force to chicane and start of the chicane tune totally threw me out of the mood for the mix, made me totally want to skip out of that tune and move ownard to the next tune........maybe not an appropriate tune for the set......just does not click for me, but thats just me probably :)

Nice reviews guys. Madonna didnt sound too bad pitched up to 138...since its kind of breaks :p I had fun looping the end of flaming june and letting it play with the mix for awhile...the mix itself is like 3:30 long. I have to agree that the end of the mix is really nice...everybody got a good flow going. Overall some good diversity in there.

I havnt had a chance to listen since metatron though cause I'm not at home...

Nice reviews, nothing to add to those. Only I've to say this CD is the best so far....:eyes: It seems that the CD's are getting better by the episode.

A few things about my add:
I just listened to it again and to be honest my mash-up doesn't really sound as great as when I made it. It seemed really cool the vocals of Age Of Love with Lost Vagueness, but I'm not really happy with the way it sounds now. Well perhaps I'm gonna redo it to use it my sets.

And about my transition. It was the only way to do it. The BPM of BB's track was constant from the place I cued my track and then there's a sudden beat stop. This was the only way to deal with it.

Big Thumps up for everyone who's helped with this one :)

Circus Bells is CLASS!!!!

DON'T KNOCK THE BELLS!!! THE BELLS!!!!!!!!!!!

Always different me, as you all know.

Mistake I made, was picking the track I was going to use before it got to my go.

2nd choice was Da Hool, Meet her at the Love Parade (Nalin and Kane mix).

CD6 to correct my errors though ;)
isoterra
think CD10 should be classics again when we get to it ;)

Tracks 1 & 2: DJ Gosher2023
I love those two tracks. It was my first time listening to track 2 while the first one made for a great opener. My only complaint is that you dropped track 2 at the wrong time even though the beats matched.

Track 3: Evelon
Wow, this is certainly a gem I have not had the pleasure of listening to until now. Great track and beautifully mixed. The way you brought in the track flowed perfectly with the previous track.

Track 4: Belgian Bonzai
This track brings the mix up a notch at just the right time because you hate to listen to a set at one level at the time. That gets pretty boring, but Belgian follows up nicely and increases the energy enough to keep the listener…well…listening!

Track 5: The Freezzz
I’m not a huge fan of Oliver’s work, but I think this track plays off nicely from the previous track and does not sacrifice the flow at all. The mashup was unnoticeable mainly because I have never listened to the Age of Love track in my whole life so the mashup felt like one piece to me.

Track 6: DJ Roko
When I heard your track come in I almost thought this mix was doomed. For a minute there I thought you were mixing in Castamara by Jonas Steur. That isn’t pre 2001 classic! Then after a couple more seconds the true nature of the track was revealed and I felt relieved. Personally the track is ok just not something I would put on repeat.

Track 7: RX
There are hints of pure trance in this track with the acidy bassline and repetitiveness drilling its way into my head. It is because of those characteristics why I don’t find pure trance all that great. I wasn’t able to enjoy your track as much, but that’s more of a matter of taste on my part since I’m 50/50 with the whole pure trance genre.

Track 8: JakeC
We now venture into yet another one of Lieb’s better tracks. For me the best version has to be the Oliver Prime Remix. Unfortunately that remix came out on 2005 and I understand why the Jules Verne mix was chosen. It was the next best thing! Overall great mixing as you increase the energy level up once again and keep the progression flowing perfectly.

Track 9: MoN-SooN
Starting with this track came the point in this mix where the mood took a more uplifting approach. I’m glad you stayed away from Robert Miles more obvious work and chose something less heard of. I believe the non-obvious factor in the track selection is what makes this Classics set so great when people take the time to look into the artists’ rarer productions.

Track 10: Isoterra
Love Shines Through is a little on the cheesy side for me because of the vocals. If there was a dub version of this track then you should have used that one instead. Regardless of what I think of the track you kept the pace going and that’s what counts.

Track 11: Plaxx
Ack! I’ve never been able to like this track and its countless remixes so I’d rather stop here. The transition was excellent and spot on. You made great use of the effects from the previous tune by taking advantage of the silent break leading to a flawless and unnoticeable mix.

Track 12: Stevieboy32808
I chose this track mainly because I wanted to return the direction of this mix back into the glory of the first couple of tracks which I enjoyed highly. For me the mood of the set was waning so I asked myself what track would reinvigorate this set without sacrificing the build and hence the reason for my choice was made

Track 13: Psychotron
A little on the obvious side, but I think I speak for everybody when I say: great track!

Track 14: Clovis86
I should have known better than to think you were going to stay away from anything Sasha oriented, but my guess proved false. You went for it and it turned out pretty good. The track itself is not my cup of tea, but the mixing is great as usual. You took advantage of the outro from Psychotron’s track and the result was a long trancey progressive breaks transition which was music to my ears. Overall, nice job on the mix there bro.

Track 15: DJ Metatron
Rarely do I notice when you mix to the next track and I have to say this is no different. Congrats on a flawless and seamless mix. The track itself leaves a person hanging as to what’s next only to realize that is the last track. What I’m trying to say is that the tune you used would have been more fitting late in the middle of the set and not as the closer/outro tune. Maybe it’s just a styles issue, but I would have gone for something a little more epic. On the plus side you achieved the sole intent of this Classics set and that was to do just that –mix in a classic.

I give this set an 8/10. Also I have to disagree with Isoterra because for me the highlight of this set had to be the first half or more specifically the first 8 tracks and the fact that you guys used some not so obvious tunes. As usual I learned a lot of new stuff from you guys. I also realize there are always pros and cons about doing a set with different djs each track and because of this I can’t complain too much. All in all, you guys did great and I hope to mix with you again some other time.

I assume obvious transitiona & track. Good! Wanted that funky to come in like that, thought it worked well.
