preparing presentation: sport in GB

i'm preparing presentation for my british studies classes about sport in great britain, i'd like to get some suggestions form you guys what are the the most popular, most typical sports for people in britain... are there some british-origin sports (golf? polo?)... i'm think that football is popular, but what about others?
i'm opened for all suggestions, if you got any numbers, statistics, etc concerning sport throw it here please, i might be useful for my presentation...
i really hope to get some info here :) |

I think in terms of audience popularity the largest sports in the UK are:
Football
Rugby
Cricket
F1
Tennis |

well fishing is actually the most popular "sport" in the UK but i dont personally agree with calling it a sport!
bascially we love your sport and love getting excited about it but generally build our sports stars into something there not. We do also have a history of underacheiveing in sport which many put on the underinvestment, lack of structure for development, and also the relatively poor weather.
i would go as far to say Britain is the home of sport:
Lots of sports invented or had their rules defined in GB:
Association Football (Soccer)
Rugby
Golf
Tennis
Hockey
plus loads more |
