| Is there a differnce bettween the concord nightclub cart and the concord pro s cart? Im thinking of buying the the pro s for money reasons and then when the stylus needs replacing just buying the nightclub. Can anyone tell the difference in the two? |

well .. i think they if u do get pro-s carts and nightclub E stylus .. that may improve the sound a little bit .. i m not sure though .. hahaha but im saving up now for a set of nightclubs Es..
oh and VW say they don't sell nightclub S as a kit .. if u want it .. u can get the nightclub E as a whole then get another sets of Nightclub S stylus. that would just be a waste of money i feel . |

you can mix and match the carts/needles.
i wish i knew someone to swap scratch carts for my eleketros. Pink carts with white stylii would be dope. |

| So who, other than Ortofon, carries an eliptical stylus? That post above about the shape of the stylus was a great read. Now I find myself wanting t3h eliptical. But the only eliptical model I see is an Ortofon from TopDJGear.com that runs about $190 per cart. Jebus! The wife would fall out and die if I told her I dropped $380 on farkin turntable carts! |

Nah she would love it...
Anyway the best way to describe the difference between S = Spherical and E = Eliptical, is that spherical has a needle tip that comes down straight like a nail head so it will hold the groove of the record better... i.e. for scratching, and the eliptical has a slight bend in the the stylus tip so it will ride more free in the record grooves. But
will provide better quality of sound.
To the true audiophile/wanker the one to go with for sound quality is an eliptical tip stylus and will be slightly better on your records.
Also another thing you might see that has a chance of confusing is a double tube cantilever... the cantilever is what the needle sits on... That springy little peice of metal that rides along the records... Either way if its a double tube it also means it can take more of a bashing... again, scratchers. |

Sorry to break it to you fella, but Ortofon carts are notorious for their record wear.
Shure are well known to be gentle on your records, but are you prepared to fork out the steep price for the Whitelabels... |

| hmmmm.. i dunno abt those man .. ive got a friend who told me that the whitelabels are not conpatible with the M5Gs. which are what i have .. i dunno if thats true or not .. but still i have my mind set at ortafons.. probably the nightclubs E i can get a twin pack for 388 |

| I use the Concord Scratch's to spin trance an i think ther're pretty good, hell of a step up from my Stanton 505's |

I have Ortofon Nightclub S's and Stanton Trackmaster II E's
THe elliptical tips sound clearer and sharper, but the records have to be very clean, because those tips pick up every little dust partickle on the record. Ortofons Sphericals sound smoother, and dirty records are not a big problem, but the record wear and lower sound clarity are the disadvantages. I am planning to try the Elliptical tips on the Ortofons.
Oh, an BTW, since someone asked, I tried Ortofons Pro's tips on the nightclub's carts and it sounded worse that nightclub's tips. |

I figured that much but i wonna know if theres much of a difference between the carts. IE - Swapping the nightclub E stylus onto a pro s cart. |

low record wear? don't get ortofons and get some Shure M44-7's.
but i'll admit I do have ortofon Pro S concordes as my backup carts and they sound amazing. |

| I just got my nightclub yesterday. The sound is awesome, much better than the M44G I had. Its definitely worth the price imo. |
