AMEX BLUE (looking into an IN:NYC as well)
It's amex, the only real "credit" to have. I don't have to pay off the full amount and the interest isn't so bad. It's my only main credit card. I have a back up card from Macy's Visa which I restrict to only Macy's purchases but if I really HAD to charge to my Visa I could (this card carries no debt). My AMEX on the other hand has a pretty nice debt but thats exactly what i wanted. I didn't want my debt spread out across a bunch of cards so I'm happy to say I can refinance my budget and pay off my Amex in about a year and half.
Other than my Amex and Macy's Visa, I have 2 checking account/bank cards which I move around my liquidable funds. One card for ATM and quick cash and another to write checks and store most of my money in.
Savings, I'm running an ING Direct Account which just stays dormant and I let it accumulate funds. Roth IRA and 401K match through my company should solidify my pension and future savings. BTW I'm 24 yrs old =) - MAKE THAT MONEY BITCHES! |

| Im glad this topic came up...Im applying for a credit card this week because i am getting my 4' suspension lift on my jeep installed. My dad said to not even get a credit card but i have to do it anyway. So heres the deal...I am estimating its gonna cost around a grand to put the kit on and do alittle bit of welding. I am planning on paying 300 dollars a month or so. The only problem is i dont know about credit cards. Like i dont even know what APR is and so im gonna have to talk it over with my dad. Any suggestions on what kind of card i should get? Like what should i be aiming for as in rates and APR and stuff? Thanks in advance |

not if you charge something small every month to the card and pay it off in full on time ;) |

I was hoping someone would chip in with this. Paying off in full = showing you are not capable of making payments. Which translates into a poor credit score.
Pay all but 50 or so off. |
not true. credit rating goes down only if you don't pay on time, not on whether you paid in full.

credit cards are good if you don't charge to much crap to them...but it adds up...5 dollars here and there, before you know it you've got a grand charged to a card from just buying random ;)
just be careful, use it when you need to.
use your debit or your credit--don't use both at the same time or you'll be in over your head ;)
but you gotta have credit to buy a car, a house, get an apt, cellphone, etc...so just dont let it get out of control :D |
