real strings

So many Trance songs begin with a strings intro but the DJs that make these tracks just go with synthetic strings.

as you know, synthetic strings dont sound anywhere near as good as either sampled strings or the real thing.

Name some tracks that have actual sampled strings (or maybe even some tracks where the artists has gotten an orchestra to do it).

(and yes I did say Trance, so "Hybrid" are excluded)

I would guess Junkie XL tracks based on the pics I've seen of his studio.

Reflekt - Need To Feel Loved (Thrillseekers Remix)
It samples the score from Road To Perdition by Thomas Newman. The song that it samples is Ghosts.

Yep, Synasthesia and Zerotonine come to mind...

+1, nice topic for a thread btw...ive been a classical string player for a long time and i always feel like tracks could be enhanced by using authentic strings rather than synths...would love to find more tracks that use it :toocool:

BT has used a real string section from time to time, notably on Remember and Firewater, although Firewater isn't trance.

Or Remember for that matter. Why trance only anyway, though? There really aren't that many trance tracks that would use real strings.

Good point actually. There are trance mixes by BT and it tends to be lumped in as a trance record, but the album version (the one with strings) isn't particularly trancey.

Remember is something that doesn't really fit in any existing category. It shifts and morphs throughout the track. Then again you couldn't really expect anything less from BT.

I know you say Hybrid are excluded, but there really is no better example :D
