Mixer help and advice needed

I’m going to buy a mixer soon and I want some advice please. How do you wire it up to your soundcard and how do you set it up in your music software?
I don’t know what channel mixer I would need as I only use Fruity studio, I do have logic and cubase on my computer. But how do you set it all up so that your kick goes to one channel on the mixer and synths on another etc?
I’m really green and would welcome some advice on setting a mixer up and the software setup, I have a Delta 1010 and I will be connecting the mixer to that.
Would a 16 channel mixer be ok or is that too much? Any advice on your sets ups etc would really help me out.
I will only need to plug in microphone and use the music software so any advice on a cheap little mixer?
Thanks for all the help and sorry for being so green! |

If you don't know how to connect a mixer to a computer you shouldn't even be thinking of buying one.
Are you going to use other hardware other than a microphone? If not, then buying one would be a waste of money. |

I don’t know how to wire up a mixer because I’ve never done one before. I just wanted a little help from someone that could tell me how to wire one up and how to set up the software.
I’m going to get some more equipment later; I just wanted to know how to set up a mixer and software for when I get one.
I suppose you’ve never asked for help?
We all have to start somewhere and I thought I would just get some advice from people that knew these things, and not get hassle! |

If you don't have any hardware you don't need one.
If you get hardware, you can probably use the inputs on your soundcard. |

I’m not really bothered about getting one; I’ve heard people say they do come in handy and thought I might get one.
I don’t need one at the moment and I thought if I get some more equipment later I could plug things into it.
I’ve got the chance of one and its going really cheap and I thought I might hook it up, but I don’t know how and that’s why I was asking. |

how much is cheap?
i have a mackie 1402, i recommend that, or the smaller one which is the 1202. you can easily hook it up to ur soundcard as long as you have 2 ins/outs that are 1/4 inch. thats what im doin. |

I’ve got the chance of buying this mixer for £200 because it’s a friend of my dad’s and he’s selling his Djing equipment.

He asked my dad if he knew anyone that wanted to buy his Djing equipment cheap. My dad said he would buy the mixer and his mate said I could have it for £200.
So that’s why I want to know how to wire one up in case I buy it. |

Looks like a really sweet mixer, but it's probably WAY more than you need.
Considering that you don't have a lot of experience with mixers and hardware equipment, this might be a bad buy. I suggest starting a bit smaller, then upgrade if you need. |

+1
try and have a look at behringer
here is the link
http://www.behringer.com/
it isnt the best quality u can dream of but plenty of well known djs use those mixers because its ok for the price u buy them
and to start with it certainly is enough if u buy the 1204 or the 1204 fx
good luck! |
