| Why is it that washroom attendants always leave $7 on their change plate? |

they usually level 5 dollars and a coin (loonie or twoonie).
the five bucks is to make you think that someone has left up to 5 dollars and where to put the money. and the coin is left to keep the 5 dollars from flying away. |

No way! That's awesome. That came to mind, but didn't think it was possible. |

| i think it's because more times then not, before you go out you usually hit a bank machine, which leaves you with a wad of $20's, so by the time you've paid cover or bought some drinks...you'll have 10's and 5's in your pocket....with there being a 5 and some change this allows you to make change instead of saying.."sorry dude...all i got is a 10.." |

I thought it was so if you had a $10 or a $5 he would be able to break it but also gaurentee himself at least $3. Bar tenders do similar stunts only giving back large amounts in the change so you have to leave more.
edit: more of less what one up said ^. it makes for no excuse to not leave $ and you have to leave x amount of it. |

^^^ I *hate* it when bartenders are so presumptuous!!!
I tip well for good service...but if you're so incompetent that you can't (or don't bother to) keep track of who to serve next and serve a few people who showed up after me...or serve your friends in front of me...then you're not deserving of a good tip either (if at all).
so if they hand me toonies back for opening one beer and not so much as making eye contact, they get squat...whereas they'd have at last received *something* if they'd broken the change down a bit more.
I'm sure my actions are outweighed by the dumbasses who will just leave a toonie, despite receiving ty service, lol...which no doubt why some bartenders continue to do it, lol. |

i was going to say lucky number 7 also then say its probably so you can get change back.
in the washroom, i usually don't need help with anything so i don't tip.
at the bar, depending the drink, i might tip a dollar or 3.
if they just grab me a bottle of water, the tip is if i get 50 cents back or whatever. but if they make me a drink 2-3 bucks will do. |
