2002 The year of progressive trance (pg. 2)

I think its going to a good year for uplifting trance, but theres a lot of good hard stuff getting churned out lately. Who knows I just hope its a good year for trance in general and I'm going to just look around check out tracks and let tracks find me through seeing Djs spinning live. I think this summers going be blinding for tracks no matter what sub genre of trance they fall into.

I believe that 2002 will be a high energy/techier/harder trance year for these reasons:

1. Ferry Corsten said something like that in the interview Swamper posted and I think I remember AvB saying something like this too.

2. The releases people are getting crazy about are mostly more energetic and harder. Best example is Flutlicht, Dumonde etc.

3. DJ`s throw in some more banging tunes into their sets and also the remixes that are being produced go in that direction.

All in all I like where 2002 seems to be going and I`m glad it isn`t progressive, which I feard a bit at some time, since progressive isn`t quite my cup of tea (most of the time...;) )

Cheers,

Sir. Lunchalot

i used to love gangstarr when i was into hip-hop.. u know thats a gangstarr quote?

ppl forget progressive trance can be very melodic.. james holden stuff tends to be vvvvvvvvvv melodic... progressive doesnt mean ithas no melody... chuff.

progressive or melodic ...
who knows ???

some smart guy might invent a new genre like promelic or whatever u call it , and all the kids would be listening to it ..

*sigh* guessed i dream too much ..

The term progressive is always changing, always pushing the boundaries of the music, it's never going to explode into popularity, or die out, because the style of music it refers to is hardly ever the same from year to year.

is sasha - xpander prog trance while lets say....lustral-everytime is prog house?

I would love that!!!
2001 was quite a hard trance year, let it slide to progressive in 2002 and melodic in 2003.. Melodic is the best, IMHO

I thought people agreed to let 2002 be the year of the comeback of melodic and uplifting.
Let's leave the progressive to 2003 instead.:D

NO NO NO

its so not gonna happen, and im glad it won't
:)
progressive is nice every so often... year long periods are unbearable ;)

I doubt we're going to see much melodic...there's only so many times you can rehash the same melodies into different beats. Most of it's been done, people are bored, hence the more monotonous stuff that is more popular. It may be more boring than music in recent past, but it's bringing a totally new vibe to the music. Originality, for once.

Down with run-of-the-mill garbage!

Respect to the great producers.
