Best Quality Computer Monitors?

Looking for the best quality flatscreen monitors out there right now as far as picture goes.

There are so many out thereand I really don't know where to start looking.

Anyone know which are the highest end as far as those go? I'm looking for a 21".

I'm just doing my research so price range isn't an issue right now.

Thanks all.

for what type of application?
Do you want a crt or lcd? Things may be getting better with lcds but I still prefer CRTs for flicker free viewing and higher stability.

Keep in mind also that the best monitor is worthless unless you calibrate it, preferably on a regular basis as to always run on a good colour range.
( That requires buying a kit with a colorimeter and proper software with a starting price of 170 for a decent one ).

And best qualities are Iiyama, Nokia, Lacie, Sony, Viewsonic

This has all the info you need:

There are obviously other brands and models but that gives you a basic idea of what it is.

Brief description of how it works:
The colorimeter is something you set on your monitor and plug into your usb port. Aftewards you launch the calibration software which runs the whole colour spectrum on your monitor and the colorimeter detects variations and creates an adjustement colour profile accordingly.

Ps: you still didn't say what kind of stuff you were planning on working on?!

Sorry,

I basically want a monitor for video editing. I assume I'll sonner or later be playing some games as well as using the monitor for misc stuff as if I miss a TV show or watching a movie or so.

if it's for video editing I recommend your splurge on a studio tv monitor instead!

I have a 21'' NEC Multi-Sync FP2141-SB CRT Monitor. I've had it for 3 years, no problems. It was like $600...my parents paid for it, it was my dad's computer but he doesn't use it as much as I do anymore...
