ok since im really interested in csound etc, i thought it would be great idea to get into complex side of C code of sound synthesis.

for some reason installing CSound hasnt been so easy for me thats for sure!

so my OS is XP, i started istalling and when i try to open both csound vst and csound it doesnt work!
csound vst comes up with an error: This application has failed to start because python24.dll was not found. re-installing may fix the prob.

csound doesnt do anything it tries to look for the file, i tried a few things and they didnt work.

i looked in the manual about installing and had a thing about my error message but that didnt work either.

im a bit confused, so if you could point me in some direction it would be great!

i have searched the web and found stuff but didnt work, so i will just keep chipping away at it.

thanks TA's:)

Hey mate. Have you tried installing Python 2.4?
http://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.4.3/python-2.4.3.msi
Don't know if it will help, but it's probably worth a shot. :)

hey thanks so much for your reply's! i will try this very soon.

i had trouble understanding the terminology they were using in most cases! so it made it hard. so the the reason why its not working is because i dont support python code?

i knew i needed to install something like that to support it if im correct.

as they said you can bypass that coding!

mmmm, thanks

winxoundpro sounds cool! so is it just much easier than having to program using csound code?

anyway cheers eldritch and MrJiveBoJingles

gee so many things to learn, how many of these type of applications out there as actual workable software may as well write them down if you know any more.

there are a few codes to learn but csound code seems best to learn as its more flexible.

its really opened my eyes to synthesis these type of underground programs from my point of view it seems. meehh time will tell if im any good at figuring it out.

im thinking about buying the csound book might be well worth it but im sure that net has great help and the manual that comes with it.

can you use csound as a rewire or not. would it be best to sample the sounds. seems that anything is possible in csound.

by the way i really like those combi patches you made, might have a tweak at.

cheers

will check it all out soon but i gotta go to bed its getting way passed my bed time lol nearly 2am. and i gotta go to work in the morning.:nervous: thanks for all that info again man where would i be without you people on ta?
mzvirbulis
well it didnt help installing python 2.4 for some reason still get same error message. also when i opened csound.exe it still looks for the file or some .
anyway im going to use winxoundpro and try that.

hopefully when it becomes a more stable program i may try it out!

im really pissed because no matter how much i read about it problems it doesnt seem to fix it!:whip:

but doesnt that mean im using now an old CSOUND 4.2.3?

main reason why im annoyed is because i want to deal with csound directly. well one day ill figure this out thats for sure.
mzvirbulis
thanks winxoundpro work fine! thanks for your help.

ill give them others a try.

csound is awesome
i'm just starting to do this all myself
i would just use blue on xp, or what you did use
sure you're using "old" csound 4.** and not the new one, but if you are at my level, that doesn't matter. the changes aren't that profound for the entry-level stuff we are all probably doing.
