So, I just recently remembered a pen pal I had from grade 3. My teacher went to a workshop in Quebec and had us each pair up with a kid from the class she worked with upon return. This girl and I stayed in touch until grade 6. I'm pretty sure it was my fault we lost contact because I didnt write back. Shame. Anyway, im trying to find her (and by find her, I mean google her). No luck yet.
Did any of you have pen pals as kids? How long did it last? anyone still in touch? |

| Yes! Her name is Sonya and it was one of those set up things in school as well. It's moved over to e-mail (thank you internet) but we still keep in touch. She just finished teacher's college and is living in London now! |

I sent a few faxes to Mike Harris when he did somehting good and to thank him when he retired. He wrote back via postal mail on offical letterhead.
Does that count as a pen pal? |

In grade 6 or 7 i think, we all got penpals from quebec in our french class.
i think we wrote like 3 or 4 floors back and forth. i had 2 penpals bc i was special :p
it was fun at the time... we never kept contact though after the year was done
when i was younger, me and my cousin would sometimes sends letters back and forth to keep in contact.
I prolly still have them all somewhere in a binder :D |

| OMG I remember pen pals! I used to have one in Alberta for a little while...it just faded out. I had one in BC too, and that bitch stopped writing. She kept moving all the time though, so maybe the last letter I sent didn't get to her. |

| So weird that you are posting this now. I was just thinking about my pen pal the other day. It was grade 3 when I started writing to my pen pal in Singaport. I wrote to her until I was about 20 and then lost touch when she moved away to go to university. I have been trying to find her too. Good luck with your hunt! You have inspired me to get back on mine! |

yeah i remember our school set us up with them when we were really young. i know i had a guy that was handicapped and eventually we even got to meet and spend a few hours with the pen pals. but i lost contact eventually.
it was pretty exciting when the teacher would yell out "you guys got letters from your pen pals" |

| Spooky. I just had this conversation with someone the other day. Pen pals are such a nice concept. |
