This entire large continent has always been known as the Americas. There's South America and North America. Stop and think about the acronym 'USA' for a second. It's United States of America. There are 50 (well, 48) 'united' state-systems in that part of the Americas, hence the United States of America.
Canada is made-up of Provinces. If you're looking for living information for a specific area in Toronto, then you'd be far better-off asking in their local forums. |
provinces....why not state just like America? |

living in T.O is quite nice. it has its fair share of ty, bronx-like areas and Ive lived in nearly all of them. infact im in a pretty ghetto area at the moment but its still nowhere near as bad as the ghetto's of America.
its a pretty multicultural city. we've got the works.. chinatown, little italy, etc. downtown is pretty neat. lots of nice areas for sports. lots of parks. its a very nice city for someone whose a fan of nature.
winter is a bitch though. |

Umm, because they're different countries so they can name them whatever they want. Eg., Soccer/Football, Crumpets/Biscuits, etc. |

Ehh, the English are better than the Scots at everything, especially soccer. |
Dunno about that. I am well versed in winning this argument if you want to play though?
To start:
Prime Minister = Scottish
Chancellor = Scottish
Home Office = Scottish
Transport = Scottish
Armed Forces Minister = Scottish
and on and on and on........
Just so you know thats the UK goverment not the Scottish one :toothless
EDIT: Just to explain even more (you might need it) the main thrust behind my comments is that if they are so better as you say, then how come we lead them? Also note that the leader of the 3rd largest part is Scottish (taking over from another Scot) in the leadership battle for the second biggest party 2 of the 5 guys were scottish (actually was it 3?) and the one before the one they were taking over was scottish. |

yeah but thats daft...why? well ccanada just like the USA is made up of Federations = states...so why Canada decided to call them Provinces instead of states is beyond me.
federation = state:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federation
Canade = Provinces NOT states??????weird.
