Vanguard can get some great sounds and some professional producers are using it, but its still just a rather basic synth. Sometimes it is lacking that extra clarity and transparence in sound. the sounds you get out of a "luxury" synth such as rgc z3ta+ often have a higher quality.
Another thing that matters are the FX. You can add a lot of depth to a sound with phaser/flanger/chorus/delay/reverb, etc. Maybe some compression and extra EQ will improve the character of the sound as well. |

When I first started making music, I didn't want to learn the fundamentals of synth programming, or anything at all for that matter, but over time I read tips and tutorials, and eventually I got an understanding of what every knob does from either tweaking and/or reading about it, just stick with producing for a while and eventually you'll learn how the tricks of synth programming. Even sometimes you may even teach yourself something, and try more then 1 synth to learn what distinctive sound does each give off.
