Now aged 12, she has told a national newspaper how she is "really excited" about the prospect of having a child after losing her virginity to a boy aged 15 in Edinburgh.
She is due to give birth in a few weeks, breaking the record set by Jenny Teague of Dorset, who had a baby aged 12 years and nine months in 1997.
The girl, who has not been named, told the Sun: "I think I'll be able to cope as I've had lots of practice looking after my brothers."
She feared that she might be pregnant after having unprotected sex with the boy on a night out with friends in Edinburgh last August.
The pregnancy was confirmed with the help of a supermarket home-testing kit.
Her 34-year-old mother told the newspaper: "I'm not ashamed of my daughter at all - in fact, I'm proud of her for keeping her baby."
The mum-to-be, who smokes up to 20 cigarettes a day according to the newspaper, said she hoped the baby would be a boy.
"I'm enjoying being pregnant - even though I get a bit of a sore back and sore ribs," she said.

I didn't even know girls COULD get pregnant at 11. That's ing disgusting, holy , 11 and already had sex? I remember when I was 11 the only thought in my mind about the opposite sex was trying to look up their skirts during cheerleading lol |

i can half understand young pregnancies in developing/3rd world countries, but in an educated and fairly rich country i just don't get it. i blame the girls mother (soon to be grandmother) and her poor atitude.
seriously, i wont have kids till in 30 i reckon, so i have lived myself first, got a stable home, income and feel wisely enough to support a child. how can an 11 year old even come close to that? just to think, when the child is 12, mummy will be 24... mental.
im sure there are even younger ages in other countries though.

| how is a 12 year old who smokes 20 cigarettes a day even healthy enough to carry a child? i mean she's still a kid... i wouldn't be surprised if this caused serious health problems for her and/or her child. |
