Questions for Dj’s on production!

I’ve noticed lots of Dj’s won’t buy certain records or play certain records because they have certain elements in them they don’t like.
What records do you look out for and what makes you buy them? Also what do you want producers to do to make records that you want to buy and play?
When I do get serious in producing I want to make music that Dj’s will play, and I don’t want to start on the wrong foot!
So any advice for producers that are newbie’s like me on what you want in a record?

i can understand your point but honestly people make music for thier own purposes it not just to please a dj.

no matter how hard you try you will be always on the wrong foot in a way!

this is to much of an open ended question its all about a persons preference.

opinions are like s, everybody has one.

You can't ask this question and expect to get a good answer, because just as no peoples taste are the same, no DJ's taste are the same.

All you really can do is make it DJ-friendly (mixable that is)

Before you focus on producing mix/dj freindly tracks i would propose that you learn to produce. I would also suggest that you learn to construct a sentace correctly. :stongue:

Didn't we already go through this at least twice with you before?

I will only buy tracks with basslines that don't use the standard formula of 56456 arpeggiating saw layers
+ The deeper the bass/kick the better

But I am (still :)) nobody, so please ignore me.

I would like to see more tracks like Holden & Thompson's 93 Returning mix of Nothing and Peter Martin's Perfect Wave (Cheese In A Can Dub). I miss those kind of trance tracks with a deep bassline and lots of atmosphere. That's why I started producing, too bad I suck in it.

I had a similar problem a while back, i'm no Dj, just a producer. I started a colab on a few tracks with a Dj and there where some pointers that helped me along a great deal. But I still notice now that being only a producer is a very difficult turf te tread. So my next big investment is gonna be a set of decks. If you realy want to get the feel of it I think it's a good thing to get at least a little experience behind the decks yourself. It's a little too complex to describe in a forum, it's more of a gut feeling type of thing to know what will go well in your tracks.

+1

I listen to tracks in many more angles. I pay particular attention as to the masters, especially on the bassdrum, snares, and open hats, the primal dance elements that can make anyone move, if the master suits ur vision.
