Original: Really nice, lush progressive melodies, but definitely nothing I'd ever want to hear out in a club. Would work great in a chilled out kind of prog set or afterhours, but definitely not dancefloor material. The breakdown is far too long, it loses my attention well before the track actually does anything again, which may not be terrible, but in the context of a club it would drive me absolutely insane with boredom.
Mesh Remix: This one just doesn't do it for me. The break in it is predictable and at the very least 1 point has a tone or note that comes in completely off beat. The breakdown again lasts for far too long witout doing anything, and feels like it's trying to make a track more "epic" than it actually is. This is probably one of the more boring remixes of a trance track I've heard in a long time.
In summary: Both these mixes may be just what the Progressive Trance crowd is eating up right now, and that's great, but neither really do it for me. I really like the melodies and atmospheric feel of the original, but the breakdown kills it. It's so long and doesn't really feel like it goes anywhere, essentially it feels like an unnecessary breakdown. The Mesh Remix, I'm sorry to say, just doesn't cut it, and I'm a little bit shocked that it was released in the state it's in.
Original: 6/10
Mesh: 3/10 |
