You'd think it would be the other way around really: Ultra first, High Speed second... I mean, as it is right now there's not much difference between the two.
Not too much impulse to switch from regular to Ultra atm. |

right now, ultra isnt being upgraded speed-wise, but i think they get some like free anti virus crap or something like that.
but it only makes sense that the speed upgrade will come soon. either that, or ultra will have no caps and hse will have a cap. i think this is what happened in quebec |
That's fcuking retarded... free anti-virus software instead of upgrading the speed of the line as they are doing with regular high speed.
So highspeed and ultra highspeed now have the same download speed? |

now normal HSE is 5mbps. if your line can handle it, the upgrade will come automatically, which means that you're not too far away from the CO and your inside wiring is in good shape.
if you dont get the upgrade before the end of the month, make sure to call sypmatico and ask why. |
does that mean this is permanent? :wtf: *crosses fingers*
I have regular high speed, obviously if my average is 315 kbps its not super high ultra speed... but if this is permanent, if someone works or heard anything from sympatico, please inform :D this is great news |

exactly. i read something along the lines that when the upgrade to ultra comes, that itll probably be 6 or 7 mbps. but the upgrade probably wont start until after summer

yes, the upgrade to hse is permanent because they need to compete with the upgrade that rogers gave |

I went from normal to ultra
120KBps vs 600KBps download
45KBps vs 82KBps upload
The extra $10 was more than worth in my eyes. |

why was ur d/l so small and same with the upload?
it doesnt fit the regular 3mpbs profile. i get 300kbps d/l and 80kbps upload on normal
btw, if anyone wants to read up on the upgrades and other stuff with sympatico, go here, http://www.dslreports.com/forum/sympat |

I just called Bell.
Where applicable (depends on the quality of your home line and the location of your line) high speed is going to be upgraded to 5Mbit (~600 kilobytes per second down, ~80 kilobytes per second up) and Ultra to 6-7Mbit (~875 kilobytes per second down, ~110 kilobytes per second up). This should be done in a month or so. |

its too bad im a bit far away from the CO and my inside wiring is a disaster, cuz i wouldve loved the higher speeds to d/l.
cuz you know what they say...

high speed ->i thought these two were the same?!
ultra
what is the cost? I was paying $40/month before, and I am paying $50 now.
PS - anybody have a map of the CO stations? I need to move in September, but I want to make sure im nice and close to get high speeds. Yes, I download too much. stfu :D |

know where your CO will not really help becauase the wiring could loop aroudn for kilometers. its the loop length taht would be useful and not the actual distance from your house to the CO.
for example, im only 2.4 km away from my CO walking distance, but my stats tell me that the actual wire length is much more. |

Yea, you are right there are 3 levels. Regular = lite (I have no idea of the cost). I used to pay $40 for high speed and now I pay $50 for ultra. |
