The Holy Koran recognises Jesus as a prophet. What the book says is an insult to both Christians and Muslims," Maulana Mansoor Ali Khan, general secretary of the All-India Sunni Jamiyat-ul-Ulema, told the Reuters news agency

Not quite sure what their problem is?
Muslims believe Jesus is the same as Mohammed (ie a mortal prophet)
Mohammed had a few birds on the go didn't he? So if a film comes out, saying Jesus was a mortal married prophet of God, what exactly is their problem?! |

Well, in fairness, such a portrayal of Jesus does run contrary to the portrayal of Jesus in the Koran.
Essentially, to accept the Koran at face value is to accept a docetistic perspective on the life of Jesus. On this basis, technically any piece of literature which suggests that Jesus was a human being and that he may have fraternised with prostitutes (which is exactly what the Gospels say, incidentally) could be considered heretical from a Muslim fundamentalist perspective. Of course, why they would ever allow themselves to be so concerned with a negative protrayal of Jesus in a piece of fiction (which would be akin to Christians taking offence to, say, a negative portrayal of Elijah or John the Baptist in a contemporary novel) is completely beyond my comprehension. If you're going to take offense to "The Da Vinci Code" because it runs contrary to the teachings of the Koran, then you'd also have to take offense to the passages of the New Testament for exactly the same reasons. |

I was of the opinion that Muslims reject the idea that Jesus could perform miracles?
I accept that to say the "normal" events Jesus did (ie what he said and where etc) would accepted by Muslims and to say otherwise would be blasphemous |

neither Jesus nor god nor Mohammed can perform miracles, the only men who can include Sam Allardyce, Alf Ramsey, Brian Clough (god rest his soul) and Bob Paisley. Rafa Benitez will one day join this esteemed list however there is no place for "sir" alex, Mourinho, Wenger nor sir alan sugar |

I'm pretty sure even Jesus could keep a little team like Bolton in the Premiership... |
