How to extract audio from google video file ?

Ok..I downloaded a few dance videos from google video. And I was able to convert them from .gvi to .avi with Virtual Dub. Now I wana convert them to mp3. But somehow I'm not able to do that. I tried to extract audio from the converted avi using virtual dub..but it doesn't play. I chose DivX codec to convert GVI video to AVI cause that keeps the file size tidy. Think divx causes problems ? And I'm not able to figure out how to convert gvi directly to mp3.

Any suggestions ?
Thanx :D

You can either do it the ghetto way by using any good stream ripper which records playback from your pc or do it professionally with TMPGEnc Xpress v3.0. That TMPG program extracts audio from video just like you asked.

Does TMPGEnc Xpress recognize google video files ? .gvi's are relatively new.

All you really have to do is record all of the sounds that are of output (to your soundcard)during your video's playback, you'll need software to record your audio, wavelab does it for me, there's also total recorder that may work.

No, but they do recognize .avi video files. You did say you converted them right? That's why I suggested that one.

if u have a mixer, then its easy.

have a stereo to rca cable going from your PC headphone to mixer input. and then run a rca to stereo cable from the mixer output to the PC line in. then record!

When I was burning VCDs I came across a program that will just take the sound off of a video file. I cant recall the name, but try a google search for it, should find something that can do the trick.
