Kicking the caffiene habit
View this Thread in Original format

I think I'm finally kicking the habit.

I have 2-3 cups a day during work but always crash when it wears off and I hate it.

Last time I tried to kick the habit I caved on the 4th day and had a delicious latte.

I am now on day 5 of the current caffiene free run. Let's hope it lasts.

Anyone else drop caffiene?

Memories consume
Like opening the wound
I'm picking me apart again
You all assume
I'm safe here in my room
Unless I try to start again

[Bridge:]
I don't want to be the one
The battles always choose
'Cause inside I realize
That I'm the one confused

[Chorus:]
I don't know what's worth fighting for
Or why I have to scream
I don't know why I instigate
And say what I don't mean
I don't know how I got this way
I know it's not alright
So I'm breaking the habit
I'm breaking the habit
Tonight

Clutching my cure
I tightly lock the door
I try to catch my breath again
I hurt much more
Than anytime before
I had no options left again

[Bridge:]
I dont want to be the one
The battles always choose
'Cause inside I realize
That I'm the one confused

[Chorus:]
I don't know what's worth fighting for
Or why I have to scream
I don't know why I instigate
And say what I don't mean
I don't know how I got this way
I'll never be alright
So, I'm breaking the habit
I'm breaking the habit
Tonight

[Bridge:]
I'll paint it on the walls
'Cause I'm the one at fault
I'll never fight again
And this is how it ends

[Chorus:]
I don't know what's worth fighting for
Or why I have to scream
But now I have some clarity
to show you what I mean
I don't know how I got this way
I'll never be alright
So, I'm breaking the habit
I'm breaking the habit
I’m breaking the habit
Tonight

I was tempted by a cup of homemade masala chai yesterday but fought it.

My brain feels a lot more clear now, rather than always having either a caffiene buzz or a comedown feeling. What's wierd is that after doing all sorts of other "drugs" you come to see "normal" things that affect your mind (like coffee) in a similar light. That's part of the reason I'm trying to quit. It's been years since my brain wasn't wired on one substance or another.

nah could never do that. drinking coke as we speak. mmm :D

I quit it. I was drinking 2-3 cokes/coffee a day just to keep myself awake. I quit cold turkey and had a horrible headache for about 4 days and was a bitch to everyone. Now I only drink a cup of tea here and there and never have a soft drink with my meals.

Best way to quit an addiction is to slowly wean yourself off of it instead of going cold turkey.
