We don't get very many cool things like this happening in Taipei....so naturally I had to share it with you guys!
UK dance label Global Underground (GU), known for a long line of world-class mixes by worldly DJs in worldwide locations, has discovered Taiwan. Taipei will join Miami, Toronto, Moscow, Amsterdam, and London, among others considered as a global dance beacon by GU.
Dubfire (aka Ali Shriazinia) has been around this spherical block a few times as one half of DC-based, Grammy winning, and world top ten DJ duo Deep Dish. When GU asked him for his top three dance scenes in the world, Taipei was one of them. Having been to Taipei no less than four times in as many years, Dubfire has gotten a very good taste of the Taipei scene. From the very first Deep Dish gig at 2F, to the massive 8,000 person Winter Love event at the World Trade Center, to the more intimate gigs in the Lotus room of LUXY, he has left his mark in the minds of local clubbers, and now it seems that they left their mark on him as well.
Global Underground will dispatch a team to Taipei a full week before the Dubfire gig. A writer, photographer, and sound engineer will scour the city for inspiration of ideas, images, words, and of course sounds.

One of dance music's pioneering labels, Global Underground celebrates 10 years.
UK dance label Global Underground is celebrating its 10th birthday this year. Global Underground launched in 1996 with a Tony de Vit album based on a visit to Tel Aviv. They haven¡¦t looked back since. Over ten years it has expanded from a world-famous series of defining DJ mix CDs into all areas of cutting edge dance music - from artist albums with acts like James Lavelle¡¦s UNKLE, to providing music for CSI, one of the world¡¦s most popular TV shows, and from some of Sony PlayStation¡¦s biggest selling games, to staging fantastic parties in some of the most far out locations around the world. Along the way, the label has built a huge, loyal, international army of fans and sold over three million CDs.
The original idea was simple. Global Underground would take DJs to play a party in one of their favorite, most unusual clubbing locations on Earth. The two CD-set would capture the night and the visit in music, beautiful photography, and detailed liner notes. Small wonder the biggest DJs in the world clamoured for a place on the roster. Sasha, Paul Oakenfold, John Digweed, Danny Tenaglia, Nick Warren, Dave Seaman, and Darren Emerson are just some of the names that have graced those distinctive covers. And along the way, Global Underground has become more than an internationally renowned dance music label. It¡¦s become a way of life.
Now, as Global Underground celebrates a decade of cutting edge music and innovation, there are friends and fans all over the world ¡V from Pakistan to Slovenia, Venezuela to Montreal. GU has captured the cultural explosion of clubbing in music, words, and pictures, and has become the focus for an international network of underground dance music aficionados. A real ¡¥global underground¡¦, celebrated in each album and on the phenomenally popular website to this day.
