In all seriousness, as someone who has had to hire people in the past, this is a very letter even for a first draft.
Like igottaknow said, this sort of thing makes you sound arrrogant:
Try this instead..
Also, as an employer reading over applications is very tedious and one of the most boring things ever. They will skim over it fast, so make it simple and to the point. |
i'm surprised you didn't post the crap smiley in response to the letter. i love that one. |

what would i call 'building computers' as a potential position.
i'm looking for a position in this rather sucessful computer company in canada calld mdg, i just wana build computers all day, easy and not degrating like warehouse work is. its not like a real job where you can bring home the bacon, but just somthing to get me out of dept before i go to school. |

i thought mine was ok. and i didn't make fun of you that much even though i definitely thought ur first draft was pretty damn bad.
anyway, is there a specific opening at this company, or are you just generally trying to get any sort of "computer building" job there because you just really like the company? |

Sorry to disappoint you but, low level IT work is degrading. |

The company he wants to work for does the computer building (http://www.mdg.ca/).
It's the same as getting a job for HP or Dell assembling the desktops that we buy in stores. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like a basic assembly level job. |

when i wrote my cover letter i followed this format:
Dear Company
Hi, how r u
1) CREDENTIALS
Currently I am studying/working in xyz majoring in this and graduating in this year
2) WHY I WANT TO WORK IN THIS FIELD
Why I am passionate(i think companies love to hear that word) about the field i want to work in (how projects/teamwork/ research i did in school can be compared to the dynamic environment i will encounter in (enter field of interest here)
3) WHY I WANT TO WORK IN THE COMPANY
This is where you try to impress the company without trying to look like you sucking up to them. Do some research about their recent acheivements and tell them how these acheivements show that the company consists of out of the box thinkers that will only add more success to the company in the future and how thrilled you would be to be part of the teams that will bring them the sucess. If the company is small maybe you could tell them that you are drawn to the small work environment because of the strong community environment and how it will lead to more oppourtunities to hone your leadership skills etc
I appreciate your time and effort and look forward to reply. now of & get busy cleaning my future office.
Good luck with the job search. |
