From Sasha's newsletter apparently...

SASHA has teamed up with Instant Live--the premier service provider of on-site concert recording and distribution--for a special release of his Fundacion residency closing party scheduled for Saturday, June 24 at Avalon in Hollywood, CA. Instant Live will enable fans to immediately purchase a two-plus hour live recording of SASHA's set and leave the venue with a 2-CD package in hand.

For those fans unable to attend this historic show, the individually numbered limited edition (10,000) double CD set is now available for pre-order.

"This is an amazing advancement in the use of technology," says Sasha. "It just blows me away and it is truly exciting that it's possible to do something like this. This culture, like it or not, was built on bootlegs and now downloads. Instant Live allows me to put my sets directly into the hands of the fans while supporting the music makers. With the artwork and packaging, it will be a great memento of the night. This music has always been about immediacy, it really is here and now."

So pretty much what they're doing is a kind of instant licenced CD thing. I guess it either means that they would have to contact the copyright owners of all the music in his mac for permission before the night, or he's already got it all programmed out ;)

Interesting development none the less imo.

I think its a great idea. Have come home plenty of nights and wished to be able to live it all over again and this means you can. You'd want to be confident in your mixing otherwise 10,000 people are going to have copies of something you may not want them to have.

Went to Pearl Jam last time they toured and got a copy of that concert(was mailed out the next week) and i still like to play it and still laugh at Eddie giving John Howard a verballing.

;)

Agreed, I’d be keen to get myself a copy.

don’t think there will be a problem with mixing

do u reckon he will just press play and play solitaire for the rest of the gig?
Dean Millson
LOL, he must be good at it by now ;)

In all seriousness i actually got to have a big chat to him about it all (Ableton, his custom controller, how crap he was at the Metro the year before ;)) after he came off at his recent Melbourne gig at QBH. He was far more enthusiastic about it than i expected him to be and was happy to talk at length about how he uses Ableton, and where he wants to push it in the future. In fact we couldn't shut him up! (which i wasn't complaining about, i was expecting to get the obligatory polite hello followed by a swift dismisal of the enthusiastic local DJ :stongue: )

Needless to say that he's still putting a lot of effort into his sets still which is great to see :) )

It was all a bit of a blur really.
