| Why wouldn't you co-operate with them? Am I the only one who actually respects police officers here? Maybe it's because I have family and friends who are in the business. |

Well he should have
left you a police business card with his name and badge number as well as he should have shown you his badge, even b4 ever answering any questions to a police officier here i will ask for their card and bbadge number! no number - no info and the cops cant do anything to you for that! if they are not doing their job properly, then why should you! haha

By law you do not need to provide any information to a police officer unless they provide you a warrant. There is no law that you even have to talk to them even if they prove to you that they are a police officer, why do you think they ask when detaining someone if they would like to contact a lawyer?
Not only that, if you were to provide confidential information to this officer without a warrant or subpoena, you and your employer may then have been guilty of a crime yourself. Anytime a police officer requests anything and you are even remotely unsure about it, consult your employer and/or lawyer, they should know the legalities of it.
Now, I don't have anything against the proper execution of the law, and I'm not saying to disrespect the law in anyway, but any respectable and knowledgable law officer will respect your decision, as it is your right.

ever noticed that every moron you went to school with became either a cop or a criminal?
ever noticed that cops operate on a very subjective strategy of determining which situations they will deal with and when?
ever had anything stolen, you called the cops and they NEVER EVER do anything?
cops are regular humans, capable of human error and deserve no greater respect than any other person just trying to get to the end of their day. |

Monthly for being a "new age hippie". Guess these days a guy can't have long hair and a goatee.
ever been pulled over for nothing for 1 hour by a cop?
Yes, the worst was 1 hour 45 minutes for driving with a dim headlight at 6:30pm. And to top it off got over $200 in fines for it.
Which is why I like to now know my rights. |

I know the deal, cops harrass me all the time. I laugh, cause where they lack in intelligence, they just fill that void with vague references to the law.
cops are like criminals, they are their own worst enemy. |

There's nothing wrong with asking for a name and badge number.
Every one else pretty much summed it up; no warrant, no information.
I would have deflected him off to my boss personally.
I have nothing against cops but some tend to be a little jaded at times... |

There are still some pretty cool cops out there though, as much as id like to say i hate cops there will always be an incident where one will shock me by letting me off on something or be very helpful.
But for the most part alot of them are dicks, even to victims of voilent crimes and such. |
